Meng said in her thoughts as she held on to Sep's hand. She had been visiting at the hospital ever since she was allowed to. She took the place of Nanay Straw and Lola Char when they needed to attend to something else.

Meng was the daughter of Aling Mariana or Mayang who had a stall near Lola Char's stall at the church. Meng was just an infant when Sep first arrived. She and Sep became playmates as little kids but when Sep grew up, he hung out at Divisoria more where Nanay Strawberry sold fruits. He became friends with Amor and Bistek and hung out with them more. Sep would regularly see Meng when he'd bring Lola Char's lunch to her. Because he also worked at the church, he usually passed through the back entrance. However, when he saw Meng one time when he was tasked to bring lunch to Lola Char, he made it a point to pass by the front of the church even if it was a little roundabout. He had a developed a crush on the pretty, morena girl.
Faith, Aling Felicia's daughter, was often seen at their textile and dry goods shop not very far from Sep's cellphone repair 'shop.' Faith was pretty and fair and a lot of the boys at the market were attracted to her. However, Aling Felicia had plans for her daughter. She wanted Faith to be with someone 'better' than the boys of the market. She scoffed at Sep and the market boys whenever they approached or talked to Faith.
In the beginning, Sep took it as a challenge but gave way to Jared when he saw that he couldn't match Jared's wealth and status. He turned his attention to Meng and they soon became a couple.
"...anong iniisip mo?" Meng asked. She noticed that Sep was in deep thought about something. It had only been a few weeks since they became 'official' and they liked to spend afternoons at the baywalk.
"Kaninong litrato?"
"Litrato nung bata pa ako..."
