11. Jared

Sep and Jared were busy working in Javier's home office. Sep had been enrolled in Braille classes and learned to read again. With the help of a cane, he moved about independently. He was seated at his desk, listening to a document that was being read via a scanner. Jared approached him to ask about something.

Because he had a headset on, his co-workers would normally tap or put a hand on his shoulder as they called his name. As soon as Jared's hand pressed on Sep's shoulder, Sep had a vision.

When a vision occurred, Sep would suddenly go into a brief trance as if having an absence seizure. Actually, his family thought that he had epilepsy because of this rather strange phenomena that put Sep in a trance like state where he would 'stare' and his facial features somehow stiffened. Several tests showed that there was nothing neurologically wrong with him except that the traumatic injury he received from the gunshot to his head caused him to become blind. After several weeks in a coma and a rather nasty fall, Sep miraculously gained a little of his eyesight. His doctors thought that because they could not remove the bullet that lodged in Sep's brain, he would become totally blind when he gained consciousness from his coma. Sep was indeed blind from the time he awoke from his coma until the morning he tripped on a footstool at the hospital. His vision had partially returned and he could see outlines and dark colours; however, everything else remained blurry.

"Sep? Kuya?" Jared said as soon as he felt Sep's shoulder stiffen meaning that Sep probably just had a vision.

"Jared?" Sep confirmed.

"Oo. Ako ito. Nagka-pangitain ka?"

"Si Faith?"

"Huh? Bakit?"

"SI Faith...kasama nya si Meng..."

"Nasa school pa si Faith..." Jared replied. It was only a little past 10 o'clock in the morning.

"Hindi...kasama nya si Meng..."

Sep immediately stood up.

"Kuya?" Jared said.

"...samahan mo ako sa simbahan...dalian natin..."

"Bakit?"

"...may aksidente..."

They rush to the church and Jared, acting as Sep's eyes, explains that there isn't anything really unusual going on as the driver parks the car. They heard screaming as they got out of the car.

"Ano yun?" Sep immediately asked.

Jared and Richard, the driver, looked toward the source of the sound and saw that people were rushing toward. "...rambol ata..." Jared said.
