༻❁༺Birthdays should be given permitted holidays. Because who the fuck wants to go to school on birthdays? I shifted on the bed clearly not wanting to get out. But I have to.
Fuck school.
Turning seventeen. One more year to get the hell out of home. I shifted my gaze to the door when I heard a knock on it. My mother opened the door and walked in.
"Happy birthday," she said in not a really excited tone but she was smiling. Which is rare and reserved for special occasions like this.
"Thank you mother," I said as she sat by my side. Then she gave me a small wrapped box with a purple ribbon tied around it.
"What's this?" I asked my eyes widening because I wasn't really expecting it.
"Small gift. Not really much but I hope you will like it," she placed her hand on my shoulder.
"Thank you Mom."
She nodded and got up. Told me not to worry about going in bus today because she was going to drop me at school. This means more time to laze off on the bed.
Finally I came downstairs and my mother already made breakfast. My favorite.
Can it be my birthday everyday?
Don't know why we get treated special on birthdays. Is it because we become better person by looking at our past self. Learning stuff from the time we spent or is it because we become kids all over again and be pampered by everyone?
Whatever the reason it is, it's just another day and you get an year older.
"Mom, I can take the bus. You don't have to drop me off. You will be late for work," I told her.
"It's okay. I took day off today," she said as she served breakfast.
"Day off?"
She nodded. "Thought we should go out and spend some time together but you might have plans with friends so it's just you know," she shrugged her shoulders.
I had to replay my mother's words in my head because I'm not sure if I heard it right.
Spend sometime together?
I didn't say anything. I just nodded. I'm in shock like, hello?
"Mom, how about this? I can spend sometime with my friends after school and we will go out after that?" She won't let me skip school and I clearly know that.
