Daryl X Reader "Finding You"

Setting: Lost in Georgia

Plot: After the prison fell you got away with Rick and Carl and along the way you found Michonne. You were very caught on finding your boyfriend, Daryl. You just didn't want to put anyone's life in jeopardy.

You went out a run with Carl and Michonne to get food and supplies. After the prison you escaped with Carl and Rick. Daryl was not to be found and it made you sad and you wanted to cry, but you kept it strong for the others. Y'all came up on this house and went in to collect any goods. You went off on your own downstairs while Michonne and Carl searched upstairs. You came across a family photo of a mom dad and two children. You immediately thought of Daryl and how before the outbreak you've talked about children. You didn't want any, but Daryl one day did. You heard rustling behind you and quickly snapped around to the sound. It was coming from the cupboards so you went and opened it cautiously. You jumped and saw that it was just a rabbit with its babies. You just grabbed the canned food and opened some canned carrots and fed the rabbits. You closed the door back and went upstairs to Michonne and Carl. You opened the door to what looked like a boy's bedroom and commotion in another room. You found Carl and Michonne and they both stared at you. Carl waves at you, "hey." You nod your head upward, "what's going on?" Michonne brushes past you and whispers in your ear, "we should go." You grab Carl and leave the room. Y'all walk back to the house and you see Rick running up to y'all and saying to go. Y'all get confused, but turn back anyways. Rick rushes y'all away and when y'all get far enough he told y'all everything. He sighs, "I was asleep and then they came in. I got under the bed and one got on top and fell asleep. Another one came in and they stared fighting. The other one killed him and then I made my escape. I had to kill a guy in the bathroom for a gun." You pat him on the back and pull him into a hug, "at least you got out. That's all that matters. We need to keep our heads and find shelter." Michonne crosses her arms, "agreed." They start walking and Rick strays behind with you. He quietly speaks to you, "we're going to find Daryl. I know you're worried and want to find him. He's a survivor and we'll find him." You smile a bit, "thank you Rick, for everything. You got me out of the prison and got me to safety. Carl is just going through a lot right now. He doesn't mean anything he says." He sighs, "I know it's just, I'm trying. I feel like it's all my fault. Everything he said. It makes me feel like that." You stop and so does he, "Rick it's not. You tried. Carl is just going through a lot. He'll come around. He's still young and doesn't know how to feel. Even growing up in a world like this, I'm surprised he keeps it together. You're doing great with him and never let anyone tell you otherwise. He's growing into such a mature young man. You should be very proud because I am." He gives a slight smile, "thank you (y/n) that means so much." Y'all hug and you whisper in his ear, "that's what friends are for." Y'all catch up with Michonne and Carl and walk along the tracks and come across a map. You squint at it, "it looks like all of the railroad tracks lead to," your finger moves up to the letters, "Terminus." Carl reads the words out loud, "community for all, sanctuary for all. Those who arrive survive." Michonne shrugs, "shall we give it a try." Rick nods, "just to check it out. Let's go." They continue forward on the tracks and it brings them to a road with abandoned cars. You check inside, "looks like a nice sleep. I can keep watch tonight." Rick shakes his head, "no I'll do it. Y'all need your rest." You walk into the woods, "okay I'm just gonna go get some wood for a fire. I found some matches in that house." You walk into the woods and go right to work with some fallen limbs. You hack and hack with your hatchet. When you get quite a few pieces you head back to the road. You set up the fire and start it. Carl gets up, "I'm going to go to sleep." Rick nods, "okay. Good night." You turn around and wave, "night." Michonne says it as well and y'all just enjoy the night and all that's with it. Your mind travels back to Daryl and you get lost in the thought of him. Y'all hear a sound in the woods and all of y'all jump with your weapons ready. Then a guy comes out and puts a gun on Rick as well as you and Michonne. The guy with Rick starts, "oh deary me. You screwed up asshole. You hear me. You screwed up. Today's the day of reckoning sir. Restitution. A balancing of the whole damn universe." You look over and see a creepy, sketchy guy looking in on Carl sleeping. The guy with Rick continues and you look back over to him, "shit I was thinking of turning in for the night on New Year's Eve," he chuckles, "now who's going to count down the ball drop with me, huh?" He starts to talk again, but a very familiar voice breaks him. Behind the car emerges Daryl, "yo." His eyes lock with yours and the guy who has the gun to your head. Your eyes start to plead silently. He looks around at Rick and Michonne. The guy with Rick gets annoyed, "you're stopping me on eight Daryl." Daryl steps close to him, "just hold up." One of the other guys start, "he's the one that killed Lou so we got nothing to talk about." The guy with Rick talks again, "the thing about now days is we got nothing but time. Say your peace Daryl." Daryl glances at you and then back, "you let em go. These are good people. Take it from me man. Come on." The guy with Rick looks confused at Daryl, "this man killed our friend. You say he's good people," he starts to scold, pointing his finger at him, "that there it is a lie. It's a lie!" Daryl backs up and two guys start beating him up. You try to run towards him, but the guy holding the gun to your head tackles you and keeps his gun pointed at you. The guys continue and you almost cry until you hear the leader again, "teach him fellas. Teach him all the way." The creepy guy pulls Carl out of the car. Rick tries to help him, but the leader pulls him back. The guy continues to get weird with Carl. Michonne tries to move, but her guy starts, "don't worry your turn is coming." Rick starts, "listen. It was me. It was just me." The leader bends down to Rick, "see now that's right. That's not some damn lie. Look we can settle this. We're reasonable men," he looks over at Daryl getting jumped, "first we're gonna beat Daryl to death then we'll have the girls. Then the boy. Then we'll kill you. Then we'll be square." The creepy guy throws Carl onto the ground right beside you. He wrestles Carl and Rick gets angry, "let him go." As Rick gets angrier he keeps repeating the same thing. Rick finally loses it and head buts him and the gun goes off, leaving him stunned. Michonne tried to move, but her guy slams her to the ground and cocks his gun. Rick finally gets everything back and starts fighting. The creepy guy with Carl turned Carl on his stomach and started pulling at his own belt. Carl tried for the knife but the guy stops him. The leader of the group bear hugs Rick, "what are you going to do now sport?" Rick takes a big bite of the guys neck and spits it out. The others cower and Michonne slaps the gun out of her watchers hands and shoots him. You do the same and shoot the men that were beating up Daryl. Daryl limp runs to you and you give him the tightest hug and kiss, he starts to cry of joy that he found you. You look back over to Michonne and the others. Michonne has the creepy guy in her sights and the guy has a knife on Carl, "I'll kill him." You pull your gun on him as well. Rick stands up, "he's mine." When Rick runs to him he drops the knife and Carl runs to Michonne. You lower your gun and continue hugging Daryl. Rick digs the knife into the guy. Daryl puts his hand on the back of your head, pulling you closer into his chest. He kisses your head, "I knew I'd end up finding you."
