I studied screenwriting in college. One of the first actual writing assignments was to adapt a published story to a screenplay. As this was nine years ago, I don't actually remember much about this assignment. I can't recall if I chose this story or if it was assigned to me. I can't recall what my vision for the screenplay was. I simply found this in my hard drive and wanted to post it here.
The original story it's adapted from is called "Sun City" by author Caitlin Horrocks. It was published in The New Yorker in 2011. This screenplay was written in 2011 as well. You can find the original story in the external link.
