INT. KITCHEN - SECONDS LATER (NIGHT)
Rose enters the room with 3 bottles in her hand. She sets them on the counter and opens the fridge, grabbing any mixers she can find.
The sliding door opens.
Rose looks through the window, revealing Bev.
CUT TO:
EXT. BACK YARD - CONTINUOUS
The back yard is modest, consisting of a pool, a patio table, and 2 chairs.
Bev, still fully dressed, holds Cline. She sets the guinea pig down on the table and walks up to the pool. Without hesitation she jumps in dress and all. She bobs in the water for a few seconds as her dress balloons around her.
Rose exits the house through the sliding door with 2 glasses, each containing a pink liquid. She walks up to the edge of the pool. Bev "swims" to the edge.
C.U. on the necklace still around Bev's neck.
ROSE
You can keep it.Bev looks confused and a little tipsy as well. She reaches for the drink.
Rose kicks off her shoes and socks and sits down, dipping her feet in the water. She hands a drink to Bev.
They clink glasses at Bev's motion.
BEV
To Vera. The best woman I ever knew. She wasn't
perfect, but she was my friend.They drink.
Rose's phone rings.
She pulls it from her pocket, looks at the screen, and sighs. She answers.
ROSE
Hi mom.IRIS (O.S.)
(from phone)
Rose, I'm coming down.Focus on Rose's face.
A mixture of surprise and happiness.
C.U. on Bev's face.
She is happy to drink with her friend's granddaughter.
Pan down to the necklace.
ROSE (O.S.)
Can't wait.FADE OUT.
