Defending Chad

(Mal's pov)

(After school)

I made my way to Ben's house. When I got up to the door and knocked Ben's mom answered.

"Hey Mal. Nice to see you." She greeted me.

"Hi Mrs. King, can I talk to Ben?" I asked.

"Of course." She moved out of the way and let me in.

I ran upstairs to Ben's room and knocked on the door.

"Come in!" Ben called out.

I opened the door and smiled at him. "Hey."

He looked up at me and slightly smiled. "Hey. What are you doing here?"

"I came to check on you. You seemed a little freaked out earlier." I told him.

"Yeah..." He said looking back down.

I sat on his bed beside him. "Ben? What's wrong? Tell me." I put my hand on his back.

"I killed him." He mumbled as he was fidgeting with his fingers.

"W-what?" I asked.

"I killed him. I killed Chad. I killed my best friend!" He started yelling, then stood up.

"Wow. Wow Ben." I was trying to calm him down.

"I should've been a better friend. I knew Harry liked Evie. I should've figured Harry was crazy enough to kill him to get rid of him." Ben was saying.

"Ben! Don't say that! You didn't kill him! There was nothing you could've done. You were a great best friend to him." I explained to him.

"I need to stop her." Ben responded. "And I'll do it by myself if you don't want to help me."

"What? Who?" I questioned.

"Audrey." Ben stated.

"Ben." I said with a little chuckle. "Audrey is in prison. She can't do anything."

"No! That's what I was going to tell you. Audrey escaped prison the other night." Ben told me.

"No. I won't make you do by yourself. Plus we don't even know where she is." I mentioned.

"I'll find her." Ben stated.

"Ben, please don't do this. She's been gone for a while. And like you said she escaped prison, so that means police will be on the look out for her." I was trying to explain to him.

"I can't risk it." Ben fought back.

"Can't risk what? Because if you do this you're putting yourself at risk." I responded.

"I can't risk her coming back here somehow and hurting the ones I care about." Ben commented.

Ben started walking out the door.

"Ben? Before you go." I spoke and he stopped. "Wouldn't the better idea to go after Harry? Because he's the one who killed him."

I heard Ben sigh and looked down before looking back up to speak. "I'll make sure he never escapes and he rots in that prison cell."

Then he opened the door and walked out. After a couple minutes I walked out after him.

(Audrey's pov)

(Far away)

"So are you still sure you want to do this?" The girl, Bridget checked with me.

"I'm sure. I need to lay low for a little bit before I go after them." I answered.
