How It Ends

(Audrey's pov)

"W-what are you guys talking about?" I laughed trying to play dumb. "I told you me and that guy aren't together anymore. And I haven't started dating anyone else."

"Then why did that boy, Ken come here asking for you?" One of the other girls asked.

"I don't know, but to be honest I think he's still in love with me." I lied.

"Really?" Bridget and the others looked at each, then back at me.

"So you're not going to run away with him?" Bridget checked.

"No, I'm not." I told them.

"Okay so you don't care that Ken is dead?" Bridget questioned.

"W-what?" I stuttered. "You... You killed him?!"

"Yeah he knew too much." Bridget said.

"No I never told him anything." I assured them.

"But we did." One of the other girls said.

"You didn't have to do that?" I replied and my eyes started getting watery.

"Why are you crying Audrey?" Is it because you loved him?" One of the girl was teasing.

"No I... I... Yes! Yes I did love him!" I shouted, then I ran to the door and tried running out, but they grabbed me. "Help! Help!"

(Ben's pov)

"Has he responded yet?" I asked Evie as we got into the car.

"No nothing yet." Evie answered.

"Should we go to his house?" Mal suggested.

"Well he's probably at school." I said.

"So should we go to the school and see if we can find him?" Evie asked.

"I don't know if we're allowed to just go in the school." Mal responded.

"Well what should we do?" Evie wondered.

"Wait! I just remember when we were driving down that street and Evie said she thought she saw Audrey?" Mal asked.

"Yeah." Me and Evie both replied.

"What if we go there and see if he's around?" Mal suggested.

"That might work." I agreed. "Okay Evie do you remember where exactly it was?"

"I think so." Evie answered nodding.

"Okay then let's go." I said and started the car.

We drove around those streets till Evie told us where to stop.

"There! Over there!" Evie called out.

I pulled over and parked across from the house. Then we quickly got out.

"Okay you guys ready to do this? We're gonna come face to face with Audrey again." I told them.

"I'm ready." Mal stated and took my hand.

Evie stood on the other side of me and nodded, then we walked across the street over to the door.

I was about to knock on the door, but then we heard yelling coming from inside.

"What... What do we do?" Evie questioned.

"We're going in." I answered, then busted the door open.

When we got in we saw Audrey tied up to a chair with a bunch of women standing around her and she had tape over her mouth.

"Au...Audrey?" I asked.

Audrey was trying to yell, but it was just muffled yelling.

"What's going on here?" Mal asked.

"I'll tell you what's going on." I girl started walking up to us holding a knife.

I pushed Mal and Evie behind me and stood in front.

"Audrey here lied to us so now we're taking care of her." The girl explained.

"Look we were just looking for Ken. We thought he'd be here, but since he's not we'll just get going." I explained and we slowly started backing up out the door.

Then we ran out and handed for the car. When we got in I was about to drive away, but I looked over at the door and saw Audrey standing there glaring at us.

"How... How did she escape?" Evie wondered.

"Ben drive!" Mal yelled.

I quickly put the car in drive, but then Audrey was running at us and there were too many cars to get around.

"Okay that's it." I said, then put the car in park and started opening my door.

"Ben what are you doing?" Mal questioned.

"I'm putting a stop to this once and for all." I told her, then got out. "Okay Audrey. You want to finish this? Then let's finish this."

I looked over and Mal and Evie were standing beside me.

"I loved you, Audrey. When I first met you, you were everything for me. Then the night you went missing all I need was think about you and prayed for you to come home, but look at you now." I paused. "This is not the same Audrey anymore. And I don't like it."

"Well you know what Ben? I don't care what you like anymore. For so long I've been waiting for the day to get my revenge. And thought about how good it will feel. And you know what else? I loved you too. But you know, not anymore." Audrey replied back.

Then she raised up the knife she was holding and started running at us. She was getting closer, then there was a gunshot and Audrey fell to the ground. When she fell there was a cop standing behind her holding a gun.

I ran over to Audrey and fell to the ground. I sat beside her. "Au...Audrey?" I had a quiver in my voice.

"B-Ben?" Audrey spoke weakly. "I'm... I'm sorry."

"I know." I said. "But it is what it is, right?"

Audrey was about to say something else, but then the cop walked up.

"We gotta take her now." He told me.

I looked up at him and nodded. I slowly stood up as paramedics ran over to take Audrey.

I stood there as they took her away and Mal ran up and pulled me into a hug.

(An hour later)

Mal was driving as I was sitting in the passenger seat resting my head against the window.

(A few hours later)

I opened the door of my house and my parents ran over to me and hugged me. I dropped my bags and hugged them back, then I started to cry.

(A few weeks later)

"So... Does this mean we can go back to having normal lives?" Evie asked as her, me, Mal, and Doug were all sitting at a table in a diner.

I didn't say anything and just looked out the window. I felt Mal's hand rubbing my back and I looked over at her and slightly smiled.

"How about we all make a pack." Mal spoke. "How about for the rest of our high school careers we don't involve ourselves in anymore. It's better for all of us this way."

We all nodded and agreed.

"Excuse me are you Benjamin King?" Someone walked up to us and asked me.

"Uh... Yeah why?" I replied.

"You need to come with me. We have a few questions to ask you." He told me.

"About what?" I wondered looking at him confused.

"About the murder of Harry Hook." He stated and the four of us looked at each other shocked.

"I'm sorry, what?!" I asked.
