On The Run

Chapter 2

For this chapter, it will focus mainly on Brian and Brock. Switching between the characters will happen in later chapters so keep that in mind so you don't get confused.

Brock was working at his usual job as a security guard for a local grocery store. The grocery store wasn't as popular as Wal-Mart or Kroger but it was popular among the people in the town. He also kept in touch with Jonathan ever since he heard that he was on the run. He had only been friends with him shortly before he left town but knew he was and still is a good guy at heart.

One night Brock and a friend were working outside and as Brock climbed back into his truck he noticed that the air bags had deployed in his truck. The truck had hit a parked car and that was all Brock knew until the others started to frantically rush around in the crowd.

Brock's colleague was pinned underneath the car and called 911. After a while, an ambulance arrived with CPR. While Brock went around with CPR trying to save his colleague, he had seen a young boy who was running in the direction of the scene. Brock had stopped CPR after a while when the boy, now, was hauled into another ambulance.

The people were recording the scene with their phones, while a woman in her thirties was crying hysterically. Brock was wondering what the hell happened and went to ask the people that were gathered at the scene.

They each explained about how someone tried to make off with the truck but accidentally hit the car in front along with his colleague. They also said that the boy was in the car when it got hit and left the car afterwards only to return back with his mother.

Then the police arrived and came to gather witness statements to what happened when the even occurred. In one of the cars, Brian stepped out wearing his usual detective outfit and with a pair of sunglasses on. He looked around seeing a large group of people standing around the area.

"Just what the fuck happened here?", he said to himself and sees Brock going over to him.

"Hello there, did you see what happened?", Brian asked him and pulled out a pen and notepad.

"Not all of it but I can tell you what I was doing before I called an ambulance. So I was working with a friend of mine and was about to get into my truck when I noticed the air bags were deployed along with a broken window. But when I went to check what happened, I saw a colleague pinned down and called an ambulance.", Brock says.

"And what did you do after calling an ambulance?", Brian asks as he wrote down the statement from him.

"Well I made sure that my colleague was still breathing, I also tried to lift the truck up a bit but it wouldn't budge.", he replied to him.

"I see, according to one witness they said they saw someone wearing a baseball cap, a blue t-shirt, and grey capris trying to take your truck.", Brian said.

"Yeah, that's the same thing I heard but I haven't checked the video surveillance yet.", Brock replied.

"Mind if me and the other officers take a look?", Brian asked him.

Brock nodded and lead him and the other officers into the surveillance room. He pulls up the surveillance for that day and goes to around the time when the air bags deployed. The video plays, and shows the same person mentioned by the witness and showing their attempt on taking the truck. It then shows the culprit running away after crashing into the car in front and pinning Brock's colleague underneath.

"This should be able to help find him. Thanks for the cooperation Mr...?", Brian says and wasn't sure what his name was.

"It's no problem, and it's Brock. Sorry for not giving my name out earlier.", he replied and held his hand out.

"Well in case you see the culprit, don't be afraid to call us. My name is Brian I hope we meet again.", Brian said with a smile and shook his hand.

Brock smiled back at him and Brian and the other officers go back to their cars then leave after taking witness statements along with the recording of the culprit. Brock then goes back into the security room and takes his phone out.
