A couple of days have passed since Jonathan arrived in the small city of Durham. He has managed to get himself a fridge and new bed to sleep. So far he hasn't had any bad encounters with anyone. He has also made his new home look more spacious by adding some decorations that he found in a retail store.
That afternoon, he left his new home to explore some the city a bit more. He might as well get to know more of his surroundings if he's going to stay for a while. He went and visited some of the nearby shops and restaurants, along with other attractions there.
Soon the sun was starting to set and he was passing by one of the apartment complexes and noticed a lady in her late thirties to early forties hanging some clothes on a clothes wire. When he goes up to greet her, she starts to introduce herself.
"Hello, my name is Patricia Shepard but most of my friends call me Patty.", she says with a smile.
"Well it's nice to meet you Patricia, I go by the name of Jonathan and I just arrived here a couple of days ago.", he said to her.
"Well I hope you didn't get lost, it's not as big as Charlotte but it's still pretty big. You wouldn't mind helping me with the laundry here would you?", she said to him as she puts a pair of socks on the wire.
Jonathan nodded and goes over to help her with the laundry. After getting the laundry hanged, they started chatting on the porch. Patty starts to talk about how her husband works as a waiter at one of the restaurants while she's a stay at home mom. She also talks about her two sons named Cole and Dawson.
As they continued talking, he noticed how late it was getting and waves goodbye to her before heading towards the direction of his home. He arrives home and hears the sound of a car crash nearby.
"What the hell was that?!", he said and went to go check out to see what happened down the road. He arrived to the scene just in time to see a sight that took his breath away.
"Fuck!", he thought as he saw the person's corpse lying in the road.
When he got closer to the car, Jonathan realizes that the car's door is open and someone is still alive inside. It was a young woman who was covered in blood and had a gunshot wound on her head.
"Holy shit, this can't be happening!", he said to himself and examined the woman more closely.
Soon, more people gathered to the scene and saw the horrendous sight. They all screamed at the sight of the corpse and Jonathan immediately called 911. He knew that the cops would arrive soon and they would arrest him if they knew he was on the run but at this point, he didn't give a damn. He just wanted to try and save the young woman still in the car.

Evan had already gotten off the train when he arrived in Durham. He was already on his way to go and stay at hotel while he was doing the case. He hasn't heard about Delirious's whereabouts yet but might as well see if he could be in Durham.
He waited at a bus stop to catch the last bus of the night. He wasn't fond of walking on foot at night. He sees the bus arrive and gets on telling the bus driver the location to the hotel he will be staying at.
Once the bus drops him off at the hotel, he gives the driver two dollars and heads to the hotel entrance. He goes up to the reception desk to check in and the receptionist gives him his room key. He gets on the elevator and goes to the second floor where his room is.
As soon as he arrives on the second floor, he gets a call from Brian and answers the phone as soon as he finds his room and unlocks it with the key.
"Hey Evan, I know it's late but we just got a report on a car accident.", Brian says to him.
"And you're telling me this why?", Evan said confused and sat on his hotel bed.
"Well it turns out, there's a guy that's dead on the road where the accident is and a young woman in the car with a bullet wound in her head.", Brian replied.
"And so you want me to go and investigate the scene?", he asks Brian.
"Well not right this second, I want you to investigate the scene tomorrow morning. And also, there's a witness who heard the crash.", Brian said.
"Alright, I'll check the scene out tomorrow. Did the witness give their name out?", Evan asks him.
"Yes, he said his name is Jonathan Dennis. He mentioned that he was walking back home when he heard it.", Brian replied.
Evan's eyes widen as he heard the name of his long lost friend. He didn't say anything as various thoughts started to run through his head.
"You still there?", Brian asked wondering why he'd gone silent.
"Y-Yeah, sorry about that. I'll talk to you tomorrow.", Evan replied and hung up.
He lays down in his bed and goes to sleep, thinking about finally meeting his best friend in person again.
