Chapter Two

 

*3 months before*

I walk through the school doors, it’s the first day of term one.

My summer holidays could not have been better, and I have a great tan to prove it. I look around excitedly for Lydia’s smiley face and long brown hair.

 I have so much to tell her, even though we spent most of the holidays together, and I only saw her three days ago. “Lydia!” I screech excitedly when I see her and walk over to her. I wrap her in a tight, long, best friend hug.

 “Cass calm down. What’s up with you this morning? Coco pops for breakfast?” She asks me laughing.

 “Um no, that’s not quite it, and anyway I did not have coco pops for breakfast, I had toast!” I state defensively, I wouldn’t eat that much sugar for breakfast.

“Toast with Nutella?” she guesses smiling, knowing she is right. “I’m not excited about my breakfast, I was going to explain the highlight if my holid-" “But you don’t deny the Nutella” Lydia cuts me off. I shoot her an angry look and continue.

“Uh look I wanted to tell you that well… um so you remember Luke? The guy I meet over the summer at Ashley’s beach birthday.”

“Oh yeah I remember him, the hot one, who got your number. He’s from the guy’s school right?”

“Yes him, and yes does go there. Any way so he texted me and then we started talking a lot. Then Ashley invited me, Georgia and Laurelle to town with a few guys on Saturday. So, naturally I went because I love Laurelle, she’s such a babe. I didn’t know that guys would be there though. But when we got in and met at McDonalds I saw Luke. He was sitting there with two other guys and Ashley who was in a deep conversation with Liam, you know the one with the light brown hair, and Laurelle went and sat down with Calum, remember that blonde one who is so funny? Then Luke stood up and we started talking. Ashley told me after that Luke actually planned it all, he wanted to see me, but he asked Ashley to invite me because he was to

nervous, thinking that, because we hadn’t really met each other, I wouldn’t come.”

“Wait, hold up.” Lydia interrupts, “Luke has a crush on you and you like him back don’t you?”

“Uh yeah, but please let me finish my story.” I beg her

“Fine.” Lydia sighs, puffing out her cheeks then blowing air into my face.

“Anyway so it was great fun, we got kicked out of the sports store, it was hilarious! When I got home Luke messaged me asking if I had a good time. I replied I did and he said he had a great time and wanted to do it again sometime. I’m in the middle of replying when I get an incoming call from him. He rung and asked me if I wanted to catch up again, the next day, which was of course, yesterday. Luke, asked me out.”

“OMG as his girlfriend?” Lydia screams in excitement, she flaps her hands around as if she was trying to take flight.
