~*Jace*~
As soon as I walk into the cafeteria, I see Fang sitting by himself, staring at a point somewhere in front of him. He has a small smile on his face. I skip over to his table by myself, Charlie and Peter had gone to the library (probably kissing) and Jared had left me in the hall to talk to someone in his Math class. Yuck, Math. Fang laughs to himself as reach him, sending shivers up my spine. Damn that boy!
‘Laughing to yourself is one of the first signs of madness.’ I say as I chuck him my Oreos and slide into the seat next to him. He smiles, his whole face lights up and the butterflies fill my stomach. I feel my face begin to heat up and drop my head down to my lap.
‘You look cute when you blush.’ My face heats up even more, but
I glance up at him anyway. Is he joking? Or is he serious? I’m such a girl! I peek up at him through my hair. He’s smiling his eyes filled with…compassion? I’m not sure, but he most definitely meant it.
Suddenly his knee touches mine under the table. Tingles shoot through my leg, and I jerk away slightly, but his knee is still there.
I drop my head back down to my lap as he grins at me, and I think he’s going to pull his knee away. But he doesn’t. Even, 2 minutes later when Charlie, Peter and Jared sit down across from us. I listen to Jared going on about some Math equation without really paying much attention; I’m slightly preoccupied by the strange feelings in my knee and running through my body. By the end of lunch, my entire body is tingling and, as I walk to Math with Charlie. I feel like I’m floating on cloud-nine. I hum to myself and twirl around the corner, giggling.
‘Okay Jace, what’s up with you? You’re acting even gayer than normal,’ Charlie grabs my arm mid-twirl. Jeez, blunt! I will never understand women, they worry if you’re not happy and then when you are happy there has to be a reason!
‘There doesn’t have to be a reason! I’m just happy!’ I sing, twirl out of her reach and skip into math class.
‘No one should be this happy in Math.’ I hear her mutter
‘Hello Jace. Nice to have you back in my class.’
‘Hello Mr Call! It’s nice to be back!’ Mr Call is the nicest teacher in the school; he’s only about thirty, too. He lets us talk and muck about as long as we get our work done and handed up on time. He’s also been away for the past few weeks, so this is the first time I have seen him since I got back from travelling. I twirl into my seat and Mr Call smiles.
‘It’s been very quiet without you in my class the last few weeks, and then of course I was away for a couple of weeks too. I think classes will be a lot louder from now on!’
‘Oh, I hope so!’ Charlie slides into the seat next to me, just as the bell goes, rolling her eyes.
