Damian woke up at 5:30 and fed Titus before taking him for a run. At 6 he was back in his dorm and turned on the shower, letting the water get hot. Damian took quick showers usually but he was cold. It was finally March and the days felt a little bit warmer when the sun was out but it was still cold every morning when Damian and Titus trained.
The boys had been allowed back on patrol, though now they had to be practically babysat by Nightwing in Bludhaven. Neither boy seemed to care. Damian turned the water hotter and stretched out his sore muscles. When he rinsed off the soap from his arms he turned off the water and wrapped a towel around his waist.
Jon was typing on his laptop but closed it when he saw Damian. He uncrossed his legs and stood up, pulling the sheets and blanket back over the bed and threw the pillow on the floor back by the headboard.
Damian brushed his teeth.
"That was longer than usual." Jon noted.
Damian shrugged. "My muscles were sore."
"Training at the crack of dawn again? You know, it never wakes me." He set his laptop on his desk. "I'm forgetting something."
Damian was looking for an undershirt in the drawer under his bed. "I'm an assassin, remeber? Hiding in the shadows is kind of my thing"
Jon snapped his fingers. "We have our field trip today!"
"Bother." Damian muttered. He moved the clothes in his closet and pulled out a long-sleeve shirt and opened the drawer in the dresser tucked away in the side of the closet and grabbed his sweater, throwing it on his bed. Jon was looking through the drawer under his bed, where he usually just shoved clothes in. Damian tried to get him to actually fold his clothes and put them away in his closet dresser but Jon didn't seem to pick the habit up.
Jon buttoned up a short sleeve, white shirt. He threw his shorts on the bed. "It's going to be warm today. Why don't you wear something lighter?"
Damian was adjusting his tie before pulling his sweater on. "We're going to be in the museum, not wandering like the Jews in the desert."
Jon frowned. "I'm not sure but I'm pretty sure that's offensive." He said, walking into the bathroom, grabbing his toothpaste and continued the conversation.
Damian shrugged. "I really don't want to go."
"C'mon, D." Jon pleaded. "It'll be fun! It's a science museume! We can do lots of things."
Damian slipped a vest on Titus and buckled it. "Well Titus and I will pass."
"Boo." Jon frowned.
Damian opened the wooden door of their dorm and stepped out onto the carpeted hallway. "Let's go. Breakfast."
"Right!" Jon said, following Damian and Titus
They headed down the stairs to the cafeteria and ate breakfast. A teacher announced that they had to be in the quad at 8:30 so they could get on busses.
At that time, Damian and Jon were waiting, patiently. Damian recognized some of the faces in the younger students- Jon's friends. Damian took a deep breath. He forgot to take his meds last night. Shit.
Titus obediantly laid down at the boy's feet in their spot in the last row of the bus..
"I looked up the museum-" Jon said. "It looks really cool! There are a ton of hands-on activities and lectures from scientists."
Damian remember to not be an asshole... sometimes. "I'm sure it will be fun." He said, monotonously.
Jon pressed a button on his armrest and found that he could put his seat back. "D! Look! The chairs!"
Damian looked over at Jon and pressed the button on his chair, pushing it back. "Comfy?" Damian asked,
"Totally." Jon smiled.
The ride to the museum didn't take long. It couldn't have been more than 35 minutes. The bus parked.
"Titus, attention." Damian ordered. His Great Dane woke up from his nap and stood, obediantly before stretching his legs out into the aisle and yawning. Damian looped the leash around his hand and followed Jon down the aisle of the bus to the front stairs of the museum.
"Bayview Museum of Science." Damian read. He recognized it by the dome of the planetarium. They had passed it while on the rooftops of the city on patrol from the occasional night of sneaking out.
The other kids were talking in groups. Damian stepped off of the bus and found his homeroom teacher. He called out names and handed out nametags that the boys pinned on the front of their uniform.
"Be back by 12:15 for lunch in the cafeteria. The bus leaves at 4:30."
Damian groaned. "We're stuck here." He griped.
Jon ignored him. He was smiling and took a picture on his phone- a selfie that had Damian sulking and Titus sitting, patiently. Jon laughed and sent it to Tim.
"Let's go!" He said, excitedly.
"Fine. If we must." Damian said, flatly.
"You're going to love it." Jon smiled
