"Mrs Abbott?" The woman had brown hair like her children, and the same broken eyes I'd seen countless times in Logan. Her skin was cold, and her hand wouldn't let go of mine. Logan was outside with my mom, the sister blades in his hands.
"We always knew," Mrs Abbott muttered. "That girl lived her life so that her brother didn't have to live like her." I had no clue what she was saying... I mean, I knew that painkillers were powerful, but she didn't sound crazy.
"What are you talking about?" I asked. Her eyes bore into mine, and I could feel her heartbeat slowing down. Her eyes began to close.
"Sophia, when my daughter Luna died, Logan didn't have anyone else to save him, but now... Well, now he has you. Don't let Gaea get to him.... She has a way with forms." Then she and her heart full of truth shut down, quickly and silently, like an earthquake. Devastatingly positive.
"Logan!" I screamed. Her sleep was eternal. Logan ran through the door, his brown eyes already welling up with tears. He knew.
"Mom?" He cried. He grabbed her ice cold hand, holding it against his face. Then he turned to me, and everything Mrs Abbott had said made sense. "What did she say?"
I put my hand on Logan's shoulder, biting my lip. "Luna.... She said that Luna died in an effort to save you.... And that Gaea has a way with forms..." Logan sucked in a breath, his lips like parchment paper. "You don't think Luna-"
"Luna is dead, and Gaea saved me from herself to devastate me even more? Disguised as my sister? No, I think that's totally likely." he let his mother's hand go, and stalked out of the hospital room.
"Take them," my mom said. Logan took his mother's blade, and my mom pressed hers into my hand.
"I thought I'd never see this knife again. But now that it's back... Well, be careful." She hugged me, then nudged me toward Logan. "He needs you now, sweetie. Don't let him down."
She didn't say 'again' or 'like last time', but in my head, those unspoken yet implied words toppled over and over again. Logan didn't wait for me. He walked a good 3 yards ahead, his footsteps definite and loud, like he was walking a death march. I didn't ask him questions, even though normally I would've. I didn't try to lighten the mood. If I had my mom die, and found out my sister was dead, and someone else had been using her to get to me, I would want to go knock on Hades' door myself.
Logan stopped in the park where we had been standing minutes ago. He saw Luna/Gaea there. I knew he did- I could feel it. His shoulders curled up, fists clenched. He looked like a hunter, deadly and clever and final.
He turned around to face her; Luna twirled her dagger in her hands, a smile creeping along her face.
"So, you finally put the pieces together? How impressive," Luna mocked. Her lips were blood red.
"What do you want?" Logan growled.
"Do you really have to ask? You're a hero, and I HATE heroes. So, naturally, I will do anything to get rid of all of them." She waltzed around Logan, her eyes wild like an animal.
Logan's eyes were bloodshot. I couldn't tell if he was about to cry or scream, or both. "You can't get rid of us that easily. We're fighters. We're survivors. We never lose hope, never give up.... Yet that seems to be your everyday routine."
I shook my head. Really, Logan? Mocking anything immortal is ALWAYS a bad idea.
"My everyday routine? You, son of Zeus, are headed for a VERY interesting death. I'm debating which way I'd like to torture you... But I know it will be slow and painful."
I couldn't watch this. My mother's blade began to glow in my hand, and I saw Logan's was too. Then a flash of white, and...
BAM. Stabbing at the air, punching a tree, yet Logan's movements mirrored mine perfectly. Gaea had begun to fought back, but she had no idea that currently she was fighting a robot. Logan's thoughts echoed in my mind as I fought, glancing over my shoulder at Logan every millisecond to make sure I wasn't making him fight nothing. I felt my adrenaline rushing through my blood, felt the tension building, building, building until-
"AHHHH!!!" Gaea's scream seemed to bounce off the building of the world, back and forth, over and over until the blades glowed again, and Logan became 0% robot again. Black surrounded the spot where Gaea had stood. Logan's breath was heavy. We didn't speak for a moment, not until Logan started pumping his fist in the air.
"That was so cool!!!!" He screamed. He ran over to me, wrapping me in a bear hug.
"Yeah," I muttered. "It's pretty awesome."
AUTHOR'S NOTE
Guys, I am a horrible person for not updating for a month, and I am so sorry!!! I won't make up excuses, but every time I meant to write, I'd just kind of.... drift off onto something else. Anyway, I am so sorry about that, but here's the chapter! It's one of the last in the book, and I'm going to b sad to see this go. This story might make it to 20 chapters, but it might not even be that much... I guess we'll see.
I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! I know I did, even though it was extremely chaotic. My cousin has a dance floor in her basement, and me and my little cousins sort of took it over :D good times :D
But anyway.... Luna.... Mrs. Abbott..... Woah. Sorry if I threw you for a loop there, guys. This was kind of a crazy chapter to write, and I wrote most of it in the car on a 6 hour car ride ;) But I hope you enjoyed it!
QUESTION OF THE CHAPTER:
How would you end this story?
