Lethabile's P.O.V

I finally popped the question.
I wasn't sure if I really wanted to do this but this year when we'd found out that Keegan was going to be released, we got threats.

The threats we're mainly aimed at my daughter and I couldn't risk anything to her.

I had to divorce Keegan and leave him with nothing or Bonolo's life would be in grave danger. And I chose to save Lolo. Even though I didn't want to divorce Keegan.

I was upset with him that he lied and everything but I was still willing to stay with him.

He stared at the manila folder in my stretched out arm for a while then looked up at me.
I couldn't look him in the eyes because he'd then just see through me.

He told me I was kidding with a sardonic chuckle and I said "I never had a good sense of humor."

"Why?" He was really confused and saddened.

"Because I'm tired, Keegan. You lied and I had to lie for because I loved you." And I still do.

"And you don't love me anymore?" I turn face him with tears in my eyes.

"No." I lie.

"I don't believe you." He seems broken but my child's life is more important than our love.

"And I don't care." The words break my own heart.

"Stop lying because I know you still love me!" His upset and I'm heartbroken.

"Keegan, you lied! I lied for you! Do you know the shit storm you left behind when you went to jail?" I yelled. Child's life is in danger because of him but if I tell him that things will only get worse.

"What happened because at some point you stopped writing to me?"

I sighed. "Shit happened. Like how my baby nearly died because of your lies."

I threw the file on the table.
"I want these signed by the end of the day. If you want to fight, bring it on." I deadpanned.

I banged the door shut as I left the room and went to Margaret in the kitchen.

"How'd it go?" She asked as she fed Lolo.

"Horrible." I say as I cleaned up Lolo.

"I know, I heard everything." She cleaned up the kitchen.
"Are you taking her to your mother's?" I nodded. "Say hi to her for me."

I took Lolo's bag in the living and grabbed my car keys, phone and purse.

"Tell him I want him gone by the time I'm back." I told Margaret as I left the house and headed into my car.

I strapped Lolo in her carseat and triple checked it.
Once I'm sure that she's well strapped in I buckle in my driver's seat.

I start the engine and Keegan runs put of the house and opens my driver's door.

I'm not in the mood for this. I heartbroken and pissed at you.

The last thing I need is for him to come a piss me off further.

"You can't just leave me like this." He says in barely a whisper. "I mean I get that you want a divorce but take everything but my daughter." He said in a hushed tone so that Lolo wouldn't hear him.

"Keegan, I'm not discussing this front of her and I can leave you just like that. And if you don't believe I can, watch me." I shut my door and reversed out of the driveway.

I left without looking back and headed straight to my mother's house.

She moved to the states after I told her I was pregnant. My dad had recently died from cancer and we needed each other the most.

"Mommy." Lolo brought me out of my daze.

"Yes sweetie?" I looked at her in my rearview mirror.

Gosh I loved her so much.
I'd rather have my heartbroken a billion times than have her hurt even by the littlest.

"Why were you and daddy fwighting?" She fumbled with her fingers.

My eyebrows shot up.
"We weren't fighting sweetie. We were just talking about..." I trailed off thinking of something. "Candy! I didn't want to give up my candy so I decided we leave to candy by grandma." I told and her eyes lit up at the thought of candy.

"I lwove candy." She shyly stated and I giggled.

"Oh I know, sweetheart." I said and finally into my mother's driveway.

"Okay. Are you happy to see your grandma?" I turned to face her once I'd parked the car.

"Yes!" She yelled and I grimaced the the noise.

"Try not to scare your grandma with that noise, babes." I smiled and she giggled.

I got out and got Lolo out as well holding in my arms as we head to my mother's house.

I knocked and while I was knocking the door opened as if it was barely closed.

Weird.

I went in shouting "Mama, we're here!", but receiving no response.

As I walked through the house, I kept feeling like something was terribly wrong.
I walked into the kitchen and found a letter on the island.

"Okay, sweet face, let's put you in your chair." I put her in her kitchen chair and handed her tablet so she could occupy herself with something while I find out why things are so off.

I picked up the letter and read through it.

Lethabile, they came.

So I'm fleeing back home. Where the riches are covered in blood and the poor are killed for sacrifice.

Rethabile is in grave danger and so is Bonolo.
Get away. The divorce was not enough for them.

Your mother.
