BlackSun (2): The One That Got Away

Quick A/N: This story is based off of one of RWBY DC Comics. This story also takes place in volume 4 around the time of the episode Menagerie.

It was early evening on the beautiful island of Menagerie. Pretty much everyone had gone inside their homes for the evening, and the faunus that hadn't were either merchants closing down their stands or they were out taking an evening stroll.

Up in the chieftain's house Blake Belladonna was leaning against her front window deep in thought. Her family had just finished dinner, speckled tuna that her mother and she had caught earlier that day. And while the meal had been delicious it was what happened directly after that was the cause of the cat faunus's current pensive state.

Sighing in defeat she got to her feet walked to her front door before going outside. She went down the street for a bit until a familiar blonde head caught her attention.

"Sun!" Blake called out.

The monkey faunus turned at the sound of his name, "Blake? What is it?"

Blake quickly ran up to him, "H-hey I wanted to talk to you. But you left the house so quickly after dinner I didn't get a chance to."

Sun scratched the back of his neck with his hand, "sorry about that. You just keep talking about how you want your space. I didn't want to bother you."

The cat faunus clasped her friend's hands in both of hers, "right now the last thing I want is to be alone. Much less be away from you."

Sun was stunned, "really? Why's that?"

Blake opened her palm revealing that she was holding a ring, "I wanted to give you this."

Sun's blue eyes widened to the size of saucers, "B-Blake I'm flattered but don't you think we're a little young for that?"

The dark haired young woman blushed, "no no that's not what this is for. This is a one of a kind ring that once belonged to a faunus princess. She fell in love with a human man and gave this ring to him as a token of her love. But sadly the man was killed in battle and the ring was returned to her by a messenger along with word that her lover was dead. The princess was so sad that she-" Blake trailed off and her golden eyes welled with tears, "well you can guess what happened next."

The monkey faunus frowned, "where did you hear that story?"

"From my mom. She told it to me when we went fishing today. The ring was lost in the ocean but believe it or not I found it in the fish we had for dinner. But anyway my mom also told me that she's worried that I'm gonna turn out like the princess. Because of the one who got away."

"You mean Adam?" Sun asked quirking a brow.

Blake shook her head, "no. Me. Or rather my past self. I-I'm ashamed of running away from my friends, for pushing my parents away. I would give anything to be the perfect daughter my parents once had. To be the girl that would never abandon her friends or get mixed up with a crowd that uses violence to get what they want."

"Blake-"

But the cat faunus shot him a look that shut him up rather quickly.

"But my mom also told me that the only version of myself that matters is who I am right now."

Sun smiled a tiny bit and felt Blake press the ring into his palm.

"That's why I want to give this to you Sun," she said, "it's to thank you. You wouldn't let me be 'the one that got away.'"

The blonde young man slipped the ring onto the third finger on his right hand.

Blake then took his hands in hers again, "it's also meant to be a promise to you. A promise that I'm not gonna let what happened in the past affect me. I'm going to be happy with who I am."

Sun cupped her cheek in his hand, "I know you can. I believe in you Blake."

He slowly pulled her toward him and their lips touched. And as the sun set and the moon began to rise over the beautiful island the two faunus shared their first kiss.

I really hope you enjoyed this. I'll admit that Blake and Sun are some of my weakest characters when it comes to my writing but I hope this still did them justice. Let me know what you thought and if you have a prompt for me let me know that too.
