Things That I've Lost

Laika's POV

Despite the warm sun and the mostly calm atmosphere, I could barely sleep, l shifted my head so I wasn't looking at anyone. I reopened my eyes and sighed deeply, though I admit going here was a nice change to my life, it wasn't any better to my emotions and feelings. I'd also admit, I haven't completely moved on from Kyle, as ridiculous as it sounds, and seeing him with another girl is making me sad and jealous at the same time. But what do I have to compete against her with? She's a princess, she probably has it all without even begging for it, I sighed again.

Realizing nobody was paying attention to me again, I made the rock I was laying on sink down to the ground, and I landed softly on the grass. I decided to walk around the kingdom to hopefully take my mind off my thoughts, just for a couple hours, I didn't bother telling my friends about it since they weren't paying attention. I skipped down the flight of stairs going down the castle's entrance and was met by the slightly busy grounds of the kingdom, everyone was going about their day, chatting to one another. I got a few smiles and waved of recognition along the way though. I glanced around the busy place, my eyes landing on a place that seemed to be like a cafe from Jamaa.

I walked over to it, and opened the door, a bell ringing as the door opened. The smell of coffee, pastries and sweets filled my nose immediately, it really was like a cafe, there was some soft music playing, and it has a comfortable atmosphere. The chairs were made of thin black painted metal, and the tables were made of light brown wood, the walls were blank but were painted in dark blue, there were lights on the corners of the ceiling too. I finally glanced over at the one animal who was behind the counter, it was a light orange saber tooth tiger, with purple stripe markings, wearing an apron, blue flower bracelet on their right paw and had pink eyes.

"Oh, good morning, ms. Laika!" The tiger grinned brightly.

"Good morning.." I greeted back softly, glancing at the menu.

"I'm surprised to see you here! I mean, not in a bad way, just, you know. Hehe." The tiger smiled sheepishly, she then took out a small notepad and a pen, "What would you like for today?" She asked, looking at me. I glanced at the menu a few more moments longer.

"I'll take a strawberry cheesecake and a strawberry frappe please." I said gently, she wrote it down and nodded, leading me to a seat.

"Alright, I'll be back in a bit." She smiled, disappearing behind the counter and into the kitchen. While she was gone my thoughts wouldn't leave me alone, I propped my chin on my paw as I glanced outside the windows, seeing animals walking past the small cafe. I closed my eyes for a bit, inhaling deeply as I leaned back into my chair, images of that night Kyle broke us off came back to my head, it's been haunting me for so long that it's one of the things I mostly think about nowadays. I know I should move on, but I just.. can't, for some reason, I keep telling myself that I should, to no avail. My mind wanders off, the images finally disappearing for now, instead coming back to some other things. I suddenly remember the days between me and Izzy... some partly good and the rest... oh Zios...

Flashback...

"Izzy, can we talk?" My voice couldn't hide much of my burning anger, Izzy looked at me curiously, stopping her conversation with Jake and Drake. She glanced at her friends and smiled sheepishly.

"Sure, right here?" Izzy asked.

"No, it's private, only for the two of us." I said, hiding my impatience. Izzy slowly nodded, waving to her friends before following me, my claws were itching already. I lead us into one of the empty classrooms since it was break time, Izzy looked at me, expectantly.
