Caught In The Act
Kyle was the last to enter their room, and he shut the doors silently, everyone was already preparing for the night. Kyle's eyes narrowed when he saw Lucas on the big single bed he was also sleeping on, Laika glared at him, making him flinch a little, she shook her head and went to her own bed. Kyle stretched a little before begrudgingly laying on his bed, luckily Lucas was at least two feet away from him, his back toward him, Hunter turned off the lights after everyone shared their good nights and the room was only lit by moonlight now. Kyle stared off into the ceiling, unable to sleep once again, his paws on his chest, he glanced warily at Luke, who looked to be falling asleep.
Kyle sighed silently, rubbing his eyes, he turned to his side, not facing Lucas, and tried to get some sleep. Lucas had trouble sleeping as well, he couldn't stop thinking about what could go wrong first thing in the morning, sure, he appreciated the fact he's not under the same roof as his monster of a father.. but he can't seem to worry that he could try and hurt Laika, her friends and try to abuse him again. His ears pressed against his head as he gritted his teeth, he stared out the window, as if fearing his father could be seeing him inside the room, he was being paranoid now. Luke knew he wouldn't be sleeping well tonight, again.
Luke's POV
I woke up in a cold sweat, breathing heavily, I quickly sat up. I put a paw to my forehead, shaking away the horrible images in my head, the same nightmare... the same one that's been haunting me for weeks now.. I inwardly growled. Darn you, dad... I wiped the sweat from my forehead and looked at my now shaking paws, I felt cold all of a sudden, I looked out the window, it looked to be really early morning, everyone else was still asleep. I felt a little out of place because I only know Laika in this room, and I only know the name of the guy beside me, Kyle was it? Aside from his name I don't know anything else about him.
I hate waking up from the same nightmare over and over, seeing my father kill my mom.. and Vie.. I felt so tired and exhausted, but I couldn't go back to sleep, so I just sat down in the bed and stared at nothing. My ears perked up when I heard shuffling beside me, I turned to see Kyle shifting his position, his eyes open, his orange orbs glanced at me and he scowled a little. I narrowed my eyes at him, the feeling's mutual dude.. He lets out a grunt as he slowly sat up, rubbing his temples, he looked at me.
"You're up too?" He questioned, I shrugged at him.
"Can't go back to sleep. Why?" I asked, he shrugged as well. Pfft, the nerve of this guy. He let out a yawn and glanced at me again, questioningly.
"So.." Kyle trailed quietly, my ears perked up, I didn't expect him to be starting another conversation. "What's your relationship with Laika?" He asked, looking at me accusingly, my ears pointed back in annoyance at his tone. "If she says you didn't come out of nowhere."
"What's it to you?" I said coldly, narrowing my blue eyes at him, he glared back. "And what's your relationship with Laika if you seem wary of her other friends?" I snapped back at him, he was silent for a while.
"That doesn't matter. What does matter is that Laika brought you here all of a sudden, you're lucky the princess even let you in here."
"Oh, are you speaking for the princess now? That's kinda shallow." I retorted, he growled at me, his teeth bared and ears pointed back. You wanna fight? Fine then.
"Why you-!?" He whisper-yelled at me, seething in anger, I was suddenly tackled and we both tumbled off the bed. I growled at him and we were both rolling around the floor now, Kyle slammed me on the ground harshly and we both glared at each other, teeth bared and claws sheathed. I reacted quickly when he opened his mouth and almost bug me but I shoved him back, he collided with the wall, making a loud noise. I tackled him and he scratched my cheek, not drawing blood but making a mark, I growled again, he was about to retaliate.
