Feeling Empty
Lucas stared blankly at his now arrested father, his head still throbbed but he paid no mind, he drowned out the voices of his childhood friend and the Magic Alphas. His mind was as blank as his expression, suddenly, his father's eyes met his once again. No emotions at all. Luke narrowed his eyes slightly at his father, despite the hatred he had for him he could barely keep the scowl, his father didn't react. Warren just blinked and kept his eyes shut as he was being carried away. Once the doors closed, all was silent, and the air was tense. Raven glanced nervously at Luke, she was nervous that she might've made the wrong call.
Raven turned to him and gently spoke, "..Are you alright?" She asked, her tail flicking nervously, Luke blinked a few times while staring at an uncertain distance, his eyes devoid of any emotions. His brow furrowed, despite that, his ears seemed to flatten slightly.
"Don't mind it." Luke said blankly, he stood up despite his still painful head, Laika tried to reach out to him but he shook his head at her, he glanced at the royal family again. "I'm sorry again your Highnesses, I.." He trailed, his heart clenched, "I.. thank you for catching him, it's.. a relief." Silence.
"..That's it?"
Wrong words.
Luke snapped to whoever spoke those two words, his blank expression falling slowly and his anger rose, he glanced at someone he didn't expect to have said it. It was... Laika, she looked bewildered, confused. Luke didn't want to yell at her, but his anger was slowly drowning his calm thoughts. Laika flinched at this, her ears lowered as she realized her mistake.
"What do you mean 'That's it?' Laika? What did you want me to say?" Everyone seemed to tense at his icy tone, he narrowed his eyes as unfamiliar anger showed itself to Laika, Luke shut his eyes and tried to compose himself but was failing.
"I.. I didn't mean it to sound like that." Laika tried to assure him, Luke's ears pointed back as he stared at her, Laika fidgeted under his gaze, she doesn't recall any argument they had before nor Luke being angry with her like this. Her own ears flattened as she stared at him.
"Then what did you mean, huh? Were you expecting me to react a different way? Was being blank and emotionless too plain for you?" Luke seethed, more of his anger rising. Laika flinched as her expression showed hurt, Luke started pacing. "Did you expect me to be happy? I was expecting that too, but you know what?" He stopped and glanced at everyone, his back fur rose in agitation, "Despite all he's done, all those.. freaking heartless acts he's done.. I.." He faltered, his voice lowering, everyone took note at how lost yet sad he looked. "He was still my father.. he had some golden years before.."
Luke stopped himself, he shook his head and the anger returned as he glared at Laika, "And you expected some sort of specific reaction from me? You don't know how I feel right now!" Lucas raised his voice. Swift and the others picked up on this and Jake stood in between them, again. The gray fox growled at him, Jake narrowed his eyes in a warning manner.
"Don't do anything you'll regret." Jake stated calmly, Laika's eyes stayed on the floor as this was happening, Luke visibly gritted his teeth and he rubbed his face in frustration. He hated to admit but Jake was right, he could possibly wreck the place and hurt someone, which were the last things he wanted to do. Luke knew better than to lose his temper completely.
Inhaling deeply, he grunted in anger, "Fine. But I have to go somewhere to take my mind off of this." Luke groaned, "Continue breakfast and the rest of the day without me, I'll be gone for a while." He started stepping to the doors, which were opened by two guards respectfully.
