Chapter 13. Sick

Time skip after exams

Naruto's POV

Finally exams are over! I have been studying non stop until almost dawn. The bet I made with Shikamaru was indeed a bad idea, but I can't afford to lose!

Hmm...? I felt myself heating up. I touched my forehead, it was a bit hot. Maybe I'm only tired.

I changed into my uniform and headed downstairs. The guys were already at the table.

I sat down beside Lee and Kiba. When I grabbed the toast and jam, Kiba stared at me.

"Are you okay Naru chan? Your cheeks are flushed red."

I looked at him and smiled. "Yea, I'm okay! Just a bit tired."

The guys were suspicious about me but continued eating their breakfast. After that, we left the KBD and headed to school.

When we got there, all students surrounded a bullet board. I saw the girls running towards us.

"Hey guys, come and look at the results of the exams!" Tenten gestured us to follow.

We looked up to the bullet board, there was a list of names.

Top 10:

1st: Nara Shikamaru 1000 pts
2nd: Uzumaki Naruto 999 pts
3rd: Uchiha Sasuke 998 pts
4th: Hyuuga Neji 997 pts
5th: Aburame Shino 996 pts
6th: Hyuuga Hinata 995 pts
7th: Sai 993 pts
8th: Gaara 991 pts
9th: Inuzuka Kiba 990 pts
10th: Rock Lee 988 pts

The others students turned around and saw us. They murmured with themselves.

"Holy crap, the Top 10 in Grade 10 were all Elite class!"

"Of course! The Konoha Boys were all in Top 10!"

"Damn, Shikamaru got full marks in all the exams!"

"Naruto is almost on par with Shikamaru! He's so smart!"

"Hinata is the only girl in Top 10!"

"Wait. Where is Sakura's name? She should be in Top 10!"

Sakura flinched. She looked really sad. I walked up to her and patted her.

"Are you okay, Sakura?"

She started crying and hugged me tightly.

"I remembered I forgot to do the last question at the back of the paper... Now my mom is going to kill me for not being in Top 10." (I did that before when I had my exams :/ I feel dumb.)

"Hey, it's okay. You only failed once! Everyone makes mistakes so don't cry!" I smiled and soothed her back up and down.

Sakura nodded against my chest and released me. Ino, Hinata and Tenten also comforted her.

When I wanted to turn around to face the guys, an arm wrapped around my waist and pulled me close. My back landed on someone's chest.

"Well, well Naru chan. Seems I won the bet this time."

I looked up and saw Shikamaru's smirking face looking down at me.

I pouted cutely. "Hmph! I worked really hard to beat you but still! I never thought you got full marks, Bakamaru!"

Shikamaru chuckled and whispered in my ears softly. "Thank you for giving me a new nickname. The bet makes me excited that I studied like crazy. I can't wait to punish you~"

He blew hot air into my ears and made me shuddered. I blushed as I clutched my ear and hit him lightly. The other boys also surrounded me.

"We all got into Top 10, Naru chan. We also won~" Kiba stuck out his tongue playfully.
