April 1962

Damon watches as Calista makes her way to their usual spot in the park. He watches as she peers up at the sky happily. He helps her spread out a red plaid patterned blanket out.

"Isn't it beautiful outside today?" Calista asks as she sits down on the blanket.

"Quite," Damon agrees as he lays down on the blanket and supports his head with his hand, "What did you bring us for dinner?"

"Sandwiches," She answers as she pulls out two neatly wrapped sandwiches.

Damon rolls his eyes with a smirk on his face as his hand finds the velvet box in his pant pocket, "Wow, just sandwiches."

"And apple slices."

He chuckles as they begin to eat the food. After they finish the sandwhiches and the blood she packed into two cups she lays in between Damon's legs with her back pressed against his torso.

"Sunsets are beautiful."

"I don't see how you find them beautiful. You've only seen them many times."

"But out of all the millions of sunsets I've seen each have held a different beauty," Calista explains as he intertwines their fingers. He glances down at the velvet box in his pocket.

For a long while they just sit there, staring up at the setting sun.

"How about a walk?"

"You cannot ever sit still ever, can you Damon?" Calista asks as he pulls her up and immediately intertwines their fingers.

"Nope."

They begin walking and he watches as birds draw her attention. A grin spreads across her face as they fly together. Soon enough her attention is drawn by a crew of butterflies resting upon some daisies.

The couple stops on a wooden bridge and she rests against the railing with Damon.

"How do you feel about meeting my brother?"

"When?" Calista asks excitedly and gazes over at him. A nervous feeling arises in his chest as his hand finds the black velvet box in his pocket.

"When you walk down the aisle," Damon says which causes confusion to take her over. Before his words can sink in he pulls out the velvet box and flips it open, "You have my heart and can't imagine my life without you. If I don't ask you to be mine, I'll regret it for the rest of my life, because I know in my heart, you're the only one for me,"

"Calista Emmeline Mikaelson, will you do me the honor of being my wife."

Her hand covers her mouth in shock as her eyes tear up. She takes a deep breath and closes her eyes. When she opens them she sees the nervousness in Damon's eyes, "Of course I'll be your wife."
