(omfg I had this in drafts for over a year 'cause I forgot to hit publish I'm so sorry gang. 💀 I kinda think this chapter's a bit cringe, a bit long and meaningless but what can you say it's coming from me.. again apologies. I haven't reread this in a bit so apologies if it's too crowded or really bad. 🚬 Thank you all for your suppot in the past year though! It's been quite the surprise that so many people were interested in this concept as shallow as it seems from those previous chapters! No Ace just yet but I hope this story will live up to your expectations - M)

Notes: 2D being acquainted with Murdoc the longest, and wanting to bring some new ideas and musical interests of his to life, has taken a bit of a lead role position in the band for now and made the decision to look for a replacement bassist. Everyone agrees on making the new music, but is unsure wether or not to trust the current candidates.

Prt. 1 - Everything So Far

Being as 2D had made the decision to trust him was big news. Noodle and Russel seemed to have pretty positive outlooks on the proposed situation as well. Their opinions all meant a lot to you, as did yours to them. You all were friends after all.
At first you had felt as if they were work colleagues, as had all your previous employers and fellow musicians had been. You were always nice and patient with people to a certain degree, but you weren't shy to making new friends. It just never seemed to go anywhere. I mean, it was just work right?
You took pride in your talents revolving around the music industry, and thought that it'd be the same situation with this job. You acted as usual. Professional and friendly. But in time, given the diffrent work enviornment and the constant time you had spent with these people, such as the late nights, coffee breaks, and early mornings the specific job included, you had began to realize how wonderful and unique they all were. The experience really made you rethink how you acted in the workspace. Sure you had laughs and friendly conversation with your colleagues before, but you had just felt as if it were a way to pass the time and have nice social interactions with your employers, I mean after all, good relations makes good money. But, it seems as if you had never saw it as an opportunity to make actual lifelong friends...
Of course, thinking back on it now, it kind of made you wish you could go back and treat things a bit diffrently. But who knows where that could've landed you. You might've been happily married by now on a beach in someplace tropical or maybe in your own band or maybe even an owner of a small record company. Who knows really. The possibilities ar- were endless.
But at least the one thing you knew you were right now was content. You had great friends and an exciting workspace. You never knew what new and exciting things they had in store, it was like getting a new treat every day. All you wanted to do was continue with how things were going and if that meant getting a replacement for the time being so be i-
"Hey Y/N, what ar-you thinkin' about Ace? Take 'im or leave... it...?" Stuart asked abruptly, throwing your thoughts a bit off track. You didn't mind though. The man's slight lack of knowledge in common place phrases and constant hijinks in the world of communication amused you. He was very knowledgeable in many subjects though, just that his train of thought seemed jumbled at times. You never knew where conversations with him would go, but that was something you liked about him. A bit charming you thought. Thinking about it put your slightly starteled form a bit at ease...
Back to the present situation though! You all had been sitting in the living room discussing the future of the new album... And the band. You were so focused on the past that you didn't even realize that you hadn't spoken up in a while. Stuart was a bit new to leading the group into big decisions and the quiet was getting him a bit nervous.
"Ah, don't rush them 2-D! Let Y/N think about this on their own time. It's kind of an important decision after all..." Noodle chimed in. She was used to you spacing out a bit as you had hung out with her the most during your downtime. You worked with Russel and Murdoc the most and hung out with everyone respectivley.
"Oh it's ok Noodle!" You said, speaking up a bit with a hint of hesitation in your voice. "Stuart's right. It's important that we take time to think about this but the situation we're in is a bit..." You paused. The phrase lost in your mind. In a similar situation as 2-D was in just a bit earlier. "Time sensitive..." You ended with a hint of embarrassment in your voice. You weren't exactly the best with words either. Seems like both you and Stuart could use some practice...
"...Heh, I guess none of us can get our words out right, huh?" Russel stated, poking fun at the way thing were going. "I guess it is a bit early though. Anyone up to help me make some coffee?" He asked, getting out of his chair and turning towards the kitchen. You were in a makeshift circle of chairs. It was an energetic set up, but all the adrenaline was fading from the slow pace and lack of actual productive communication.
Thinking back to Russel's offer, the man was better known for his actions to get his point across, though as quite as he may be in the best of tiems, he always knew what to say. Of course being the rythm king of his prime, music is where he really seemed to shine through. You admired that in him and you were always curious as what he was up to. You decided to join him. You were used to waking up and working early mornings along side him so it wouldn't be much diffrent.
     "I-I'll help Russ!"
     "I'll go."
You and 2-D said in almost unison. Who said what is still up for debate.
"Oh- uhm sorry 2-D, you can go if you'd like..." You offered, not trying to come off as rude.
"No uh- t's fine Y/N, if ya really want too, I can just stay 'ere and talk with Noodle. Anything to keep my mind off'a this for a bit is good enough for me..." 2-D answered.
(Just looking for things to keep him busy, huh?) You thought. (Same here...)
Sometimes you couldn't tell if your over excesive thinking helped or hurt you. Russel's offer was a good chance for you to get your mind off things for a bit...

Prt. 2 - Casting

As the two of you returned from the kitchen with everyone's drinks, the room seemed much more awake. Things were getting settled and the gang was all ready and up for discussion. Although Ace had been mentioned earlier, you all had a cast of equally wacky and cartoonish characters to go through. You think it may have been your better judgement... Or maybey Stuart's lack of vision, but it was very strange to you that a duck of all people was on said list... Who knows though, I mean they were interviewed by a talking horse back in 2005-2006ish? The group always had it's way of attracting the impractical, but the rag-taggedness and mix of them all really kept the metaphorical cocktail stirring. They were adaptive bunch, and in your line of work that was good.
As for the bassist, time went on and after about an hour or 2 you all had put your vote in. You offered to do the calling since it was part of your job now that the music and tours were at a halt, but 2D insisted on calling the people and comanoes himself. He was wyite accustomed to Murdoc's way of doing things, and thought it'd be more persuasive over the phone if said temp was in conversation with someone like tge frontman. To seem less cooporate, though he knew you were nothing of the robotic sort.
Votes were cast, calls were made, visas were printed. And next thing you knew you all had a new bassist packing his bags and comong out from New York withing the next week or 2. Ace D. Copular. Rolled off the tongue right. Sounded enthusiastic, greatful even for the call. Knew Mudz a bit back in the day. After all careful consideration the band seemed in agreeance that he'd be the perfect fit. Sure his line of work seemed a bit dodgey, not sure what was acting or real life, but he seemed like a genuine guy on the phone, and Stuart was confident in the choice. Now all that was left to do was to prepare and wait. Freshen the place up abit. Make it feel livley again. The next 3 days would be a bit of work but it was a team effort and everyone was all for it. You just hiped that the transition would be as smooth as you all planned it out to be...

Eyo! Mandy here again. :) This is the end of the general introduction period of the story. I hope you enjoyed how everyone interacts with eachother! I tried having them all in friendly relations with you but all being a little different of course. :) The chapter over is where you all finally meet the man of the hour in person! :) I suggest picking an outfit you're comfortable going out with (like to a park or coffee shop etc), I really hope it goes well, the man has had a long flight! Anyways, introductions are everything! I'm sure you'll all get along. :D - M
