Taeyeon's little midnight adventure thankfully went unnoticed by Tiffany but it made her realize that she got it bad. Through the entire night, when she was with the young girl, all she could think about was Tiffany and how much she wished that it was her she was with. Because of that, they didn't do much. The girl kept trying to make a move on her but she couldn't go further than making out. In the end, the girl fell asleep—too drunk to even hear her leave—and she was left with the same emptiness and dilemma that she came to the club with.
The next day, she tries to keep her distance and focus on her work, not replying to Tiffany's messages.
After a meeting with the staff of one of her foreign business partners, she's contemplating on personally visiting the construction site abroad and get away from the country for a little bit when she gets an unexpected visit.
"Kang Hyejin," she mumbles when she sees the elegant woman making her way inside her office, led by her assistant.
"I see that you still remember me," says the woman after thanking the assistant. She waits until the door is closed then sets her purse on the couch and puts her hands inside her pants pockets as she struts towards Taeyeon's desk, smirking while holding her gaze.
How can I forget? Taeyeon swallows.
Kang Hyejin, one of the most eligible bachelorettes in the country until two years ago when she was sent to prison for her involvement in a huge corruption and bribery scandal. Ironically, her money bought her a lighter sentence and after serving a year in a minimum-security prison, she was moved and put under house arrest.
She's gorgeous, sexy, intelligent and the first person Taeyeon ever closely considered as her equal before she met Tiffany. But unlike Tiffany, Hyejin is all about money and power; and she would literally do anything for it. Her family wasn't part of an organized crime family like Taeyeon's but they didn't mind getting their hands dirty to achieve their goals. Before their crimes were revealed, they were always included in the top five richest families in the country.
Whenever they talked, whether it's about business or politics or anything at all, Hyejin would always turn it into a profit-making plan or a way to sneakily fish for information about Taeyeon's family business.
That's why Taeyeon never really felt anything sincere towards the woman—she wouldn't even call her a friend—but she'd gladly admit that the sexual attraction between them was off the charts and that she was a fun companion. They didn't officially date each other but they got together regularly for years. She was the closest thing she had to a girlfriend.
"You look..." Taeyeon gulps, eyes fixed on the woman who rounds the desk, approaching her. "Good."
"You too." Hyejin takes a seat on the desk, right in front of Taeyeon. The smirk is still plastered on her face while she absentmindedly shifts Taeyeon's phone and papers that are on the desk. Their eyes then lock and she flips her hair, fully realizing Taeyeon's gaze that has traveled down to her neck and exposed collarbones—she has deliberately opened an extra top button on her shirt, making use of her knowledge of Taeyeon's thing for those specific areas.
"So you're out?" Taeyeon manages to say after tearing her eyes away from the revealed skin with effort.
"Yes."
"And you plan to stay in the country?" asks Taeyeon. She knows that Hyejin has amassed enough wealth in multiple offshore accounts to live comfortably for the rest of her life.
"Not really. I was packing when someone told me that you have a girlfriend," Hyejin says. "I got curious so here I am."
"That's not true."
