Dana ( a former professional dancer on DWTS-- how they met and were partners-- who now teaches dance around the LA school districts to junior high to high school as part of PE classes and extra-curricular activity. ) Santamaria-Björk (Bjerk) and Chris Evans are getting married. This is especially important for Dana because she thought no man would want her as she has a fifteen-year-old daughter nicknamed Luna (whom she had at sixteen). They are getting married on the beach in Dana's hometown in Lubec, Maine (they are blessed by a relatively nice day because they had a back-up plan of a church with a beautiful view of the beach behind the alter through a giant window )and moving to a modern dance hall for the reception.

March 2019

As the sun is beginning its ascent to its perch in the sky over the sleepy coastal town of Lubec, Maine, there is much afoot at La Casa a La Björk (Byerk)-- a cozy little Parisian-style bed and breakfast with beachfront property owned and run by Felix Björk of Sweden and his wife, Alma Santamaria-Björk born and bred on the sands of Barcelona. A wedding is about to take place. Many events had taken place at this tiny New England hideaway, however, none of them could have paired in comparison to tonight's festivities. This is a special event as Felix and Alma's eldest daughter, Dana, is getting married to Captain America himself, Chris Evans. This was a childhood fantasy coming to life before everybody's eyes. While many dreamed of a fairytale wedding set in a castle, a traditional ceremony in a church, or beer, blue jeans, and barefoot on the beach, Dana had always dreamed of saying "I do" in the garden with a view of the ocean on all sides. The lighthouse that stood as a landmark of her childhood could be seen as she stared into the eyes of the man she loved. A full-circle moment that led to a sensation of completion.

Dana stands with a birdseye view from her roost of a gilded black terrace balcony. She's sipping her morning coffee watching all that is going into preparations for her big day. Her two brothers, Javier and Hugo, alongside the maids weaved branches with circular-shaped leaves and flowers in pastel shades of pale blue, pink, and lilac into the arch. Care goes into each tie and bunch. Felix is kindly barking orders about decoration placement, making sure everything goes to plan and sets up a table to direct guests to their seats. The wedding planner couldn't make it, so he and Alma took it upon themselves to execute the vision. He would stop at nothing to ensure his daughter's wedding went on without a hitch. From the backdoors, Chris emerges sweaty from a run. The entire week, although fantastic, was a lot to take in. First, on Sunday, her parents hosted the Lysning-- an old Swedish tradition that usually entailed public announcements in a church followed by a meal and drinks. However, as Dana grew up with a more secular upbringing despite the Christian backgrounds of Felix and Alma, it only entailed food and drinks-- where the closest staff, townspeople, and bridal party congregated in the garden, brought food, and made merry. Alma and Felix spoke with contentment about the couple and gave them their wedding gift-- an album containing pictures of them in their youth and others of Chris, Dana, and Luna (Dana's fifteen-year-old daughter) and many pages were blank for the future they'd share together as a family of three along with a special honeymoon excursion in Spain as organized by Alma. The Lysning went unexpectedly late into the night, yet Felix continued to act as a gracious host in setting up a fire pit, providing blankets, and bringing out his guitar to serenade the remaining guests backed by the beautiful harmony of his granddaughter.

The following day, Chris and Dana drove two hours to the nearest bus station to pick-up Dana's remaining wedding-attending family from Sweden. This was a big deal as her grandparents, Anni and Karl, who were in their nineties and usually elected against traveling due to their growing frailty and moodiness had made it a priority to attend Dana's wedding. They traveled with companions for their safety and sanity: Felix's sister, Agatha, and her husband, Benny. Dana's cousins and their daughters, Frida, Ilse, and Lynn, had arrived a week ago not only to explore Maine, but they wanted to see the Big Apple with their own eyes. Agatha and Benny spoke English whereas her grandparents strictly spoke in their native tongue of Swedish. Therefore, translations were necessary between Chris, Anni, and Karl. This was their introduction to Chris and he seemed to make a good impression despite the language barrier. They devoured lunch and went on their way back to Lubec where the rest of the family waited to greet them-- especially Luna as she was a baby when she met Anni and Benny. A siesta was in order and family dinner (including the bridal party) commenced afterward. Chris and Dana went to bed late again but woke up early for a run and rehearsal of their first dance.
