Part 2: Much Needed Encouragement

2 pm December 13th, 2018

"Thank you, Rian," Chris says pacing before the door where Guin has been laboring for the past twelve hours. Her groans of exasperation could be heard from the reception desk, three rooms away. "I'm sorry it was short notice, but I should be back on set in a couple of days."

Rian gives his congratulations again and they end the call. That is the last of the calls he needed to make. Chris has been trying to get hold of set since six in the morning and only just got in contact directly with Rian. When Chris and Guin arrived at the hospital earlier this morning, in a whirlwind she was taken to a room. Dr. Jones checked how dilated she was. Contractions were growing more and more strenuous, so anything irritated Guin. Chris decided to first help her finding her breathing exercises again and start the process calling people. Chris's parents were the first on his list mostly due to the fact that Guin's parents did not pick up.

Lisa answered and almost forgot why the hell her son would be calling at three in the morning, but once Chris said the words "Guin's having the baby" on the other side, he could hear that she was waking up Robert abruptly by shouting. Prior to hanging up, she said she'd notify Chris when they were on their way. They said they would call Shanna and Carly as well so that he could go back to comforting Guinevere.

Next came the in-laws for a second successful try, Farrah and Jay, who hadn't slept a wink in weeks. Farrah was the type to speed, so Chris gave wishes for their safety and pleading with Farrah to arrive without breaking any laws. Jay made it clear he was driving due to that concern.

Once that call was done, he moved on to contacting, Artie, Guin's older brother. He noted that he had to be quick as he was on his way to work, but giddy about the possibility of being an uncle by the end of the day. Chris also questioned if before Arthur made his way to the hospital after his final interior consultation of the day, if Artie could check on Dodger to make sure he had eaten and he hadn't gone to the bathroom in the house. Dodger only relieved himself indoors if he was sick or under sedation from surgery, so Chris wasn't too concerned about that. Artie loved that dog more than his brother-in-law-- who he did like-- so he was eager to help in any way possible. Before continuing his commute, he asked if he could bring Stavvy, his husband, and Talia, his girlfriend and business partner who was pregnant with his baby that would be raised equally between the married couple and her. No one in the family really understood the point of having a husband and a girlfriend, but Chris, Guin, Farrah, and Scott choose to support it as nobody is hurt by the arrangement and Artie is happy-- which for a long time he hasn't because he had crises in his youth about his bisexuality and how that would impact his love life-- while everyone else neither judged nor supported-- just let Artie live. He really did get the best of both worlds. Chris gave an enthusiastic response, "The more the merrier."

From the brother-in-law to the brother. Scott wouldn't be in Boston until the twenty-second for Christmas, but he had practically demanded to be notified about when his niece or nephew would make an appearance. Scott may have arguably been more elated about the fact that Guin and Chris were finally having a kid out of everybody. During the tumultuous five years, Scott was who Chris greatly confided in as he was always ready to listen-- even if he lacked the experience to truly relate to his older brother. Scott freaked out and his voice grew more high-pitched. Scott ended the call by saying he'd attempt to make contact via Facetime once the baby had actually been born.

The calls concluded with the couples' close friends like Mark Kassen as well as the Marvel cast. Everyone was extremely excited for the expecting couple-- especially Scar, Seb, and Anthony. They gave their wishes to Guin-- as she was in the thick of it based on what they could hear and that Chris better give her all the love in the world over however long this labor progressed-- and Chris -- to be patient and do whatever Guin asked of him. Not all of them had the complete story regarding the hardships that got them here, it was generally understood, and since the announcement of the pregnancy, all their friends had been supportive. Mostly all they wished was that the baby was healthy and know the name of the baby and the hint of initials.
