Epilogue
Over the years, Guin and Chris did end up adding to their team. However, not in the way they expected. When Ava was two, Guinevere despite her doubts and adamant statements regarding pregnancy found herself expecting twins at thirty-nine. She gave birth to identical twin daughters named Farrah Elaine and Morgan Rita in a much quicker labor. Farrah was born vaginally whereas Morgan by C-section-- Guinevere received the drugs she so desperately desired during her labor with Ava. Obviously, the name Farrah was bestowed upon their second daughter as an homage to the woman, though she ir loud and mighty, who had birthed and raised Guin. Despite being a mother young-- at seventeen then twenty-two--Farrah found joy and fulfillment --- beating the stereotypes. It was coupled with Elaine, a continuation of names from King Arthur, and as to not cause any confusion between the daughter and grandmother, she was referred to as Elaine and fondly nicknamed, Elle. Morgan is yet another name from the ancient folklore of Britain while Rita was the name of Chris's grandmother from his mom's side. The couple agreed for a while that being a team of five would be their cut. But like the first time that was declared, it was not to last.
While Guinevere went abroad to South Africa for research, she led a volunteer project at an orphanage, teaching the children to write and read stories weekly, where she met a five-year-old boy of color who shared the name of her father, Jacob. When Guin and Jacob shook hands, she knew he didn't belong there. She felt an even further tug at her heart when she heard that he'd lost his parents in a violent accident and the rest would not take him as he was deemed "cursed". Cursed really entailed that he had some social difficulties that they blamed for his parents' demise. Jacob's "difficulties" didn't bother Guinevere in the slightest. While Chris had brought home a dog while away business, Guin returned with a child. Immediately following their introductions she began the process of adopting him, so when she came back from her semester abroad, Jacob could come home. It didn't work that way.
Jacob was delivered by a social worker while Guin returned alone to prep the house and her family. He arrived when the school year concluded. Chris and the girls, that day at the airport, were beyond excited. Chris would meet the son he hadn't met but whom he was ready to accept as his own. The girls, mainly Ava as she was four while the twins had recently turned one, could hardly contain herself at the prospect of having a brother. Guinevere had warned against the compulsion to hug him as touch could only come when he grew more comfortable. However, to her amazement, when Jacob approached, after embracing Guin, he wrapped his arms around his sisters and then his father. The pair expected acclimation to be more difficult but it proved to be quite the opposite. Jacob was a perfect addition to their team.
A few years later, after thoroughly discussing adoption once more, the papers were signed and processed. It took a year for them to be matched with a baby boy from Romania who was the product of a teenage mother involved in prostitution. The family took a vacation to Bucharest where they picked up the last of their brood. The boy they named, Launce Christopher, inspired by the knight of the Round Table and his adopted father as Guinevere believed that they wouldn't be a family if it weren't for the encouragement and hope he provided when they believed the very idea of being a family of seven was a fantasy that would never come to light. Fortunately, their dream came true. They became a family biologically with their three beautiful daughters and via adoption with their wonderful sons. Like the Patriots they were finally a team.
I hope y'all enjoyed that! Again this mainly works by requests. Tell me what you want Chris or his characters to do next!
