Chapter 21 - Love and Lies

John's PoV

It's been over seven days since I bit Amy and she still hasn't moved.  She's been lying in my bed unconscious and I've been by her side the whole time. Tyler reckons that when I bit her some of my venom went in to her and now it's reacting with the venom already inside her body. Right now her body is just trying to cope with it all and adjust. None of us know what's going to happen next. Clair had suggested we call our boss Mark, but I didn't want him to know about the Amy situation just yet. I didn't know how he'd react and I'd prefer to have her safe and near me right now.  Tyler and Clair aren't sure if she'll wake up but I'm sure she will. I need her to wake up. I can't live without her. For the first time in years my heart doesn't feel cold. She's woken my heart and humanity. She would make it through this. She was a strong fighter.  I held on to her hand tighter. She would get through this. Right now, if I were able to cry, I would of been doing it.

"I will always be here for you" I whispered in her ear

But what if you shouldn't be here for me, a little voice said in my head. But that was stupid. I had to be here for her. To help her.

Yeah, you're helping her by biting her and making her black out, that was an accident, that wasn't supposed to happen. It won't happen again.

How do you know it won't happen again? You just being here has put here in danger. You've already lost control once and bit her. What if something worse happens next time?  It will not lose control again. I love her, I'll stay strong.

You loved her when you bit her. And isn't falling in love wither putting her in danger. Bringing her in to your life. Is that what you really want for her? To bring her to-

"John" Clair called from the doorway bring me out of my mental argument with myself. "I called her parents and told them she'd be staying with us a little while longer. They were fine with it."

"O.k." I said not even looking away from Amy for a second.  I could sense her flit from the doorway to just behind me.

"John" she said placing a hand on my shoulder, "you need to get out of her for a bit. Why don't you go hunting for a bit? You need some fresh blood instead of all the-"

"I'm fine" I said coldly while shrugging her arm of my shoulder.

"No you're not; you're not your usual self. What's wrong?"

"What's wrong?" I said while turning to stare right into her red eyes, "What's wrong? I admitted to Amy that I'm in love with her and found out she felt the same for me. Then we slept together and I bit.  When she wakes up she'll probably hate me and never want to see me again! My chest hurt and my voice was filled with all the pain I'd been holding in.

"But what if she doesn't wake up" Clair asked quietly looking away.

"She will"

"But even if she does wake up, it's not like you can tell her about us"

"I don't care. I'm going to tell her everything. I want her to know everything about me. If she will, I want her to join us?"

"What!"

"I Love her Clair, I want to be with her forever. I've only known her a few months but the few months I've know her have been the best of my life. She's changed me."

"She definitely has" Clair smiled, "Your acting less Jerkish"

"Thanks Sis"

"But you really need to go out, you're looking......Pale" she smirked at her joke.
