*five days later*

(Libby's P.O.V)

It was finally the day I've been dreading. My birthday.

"Happy birthday, Libby!" Everyone shouted as I walked down the stairs.

They were all standing by a giant cake that had pink frosting letters on it that read: Happy 16th Birthday Libby.

I would be excited, but I just can't. After tonight I'm never going to see them ever again. but, I forced a smile and pretended like nothing was wrong.

*later*

It was after lunch and I was opening presents. "Open up mine now." Bree begged. I grabbed a small blue box with a silver bow on it. When I opened it, I choked back a sob at the sight of a necklace. It had silver branches. Inside was eight different jewels. Each one a different color.

"What's wrong, Libby?" Leo asked.

"N-nothing." I stuttered.

He shrugged as he handed me another present.

It was a blue dress with daisies on it.

"Thanks Leo." I said.

"Your welcome." he replied.

Then Mr.Davenport handed me his present.

Inside was a journal with flowers on it.

"Thanks guys, for everything."

"No Libby, thank you. We saw how lost you were when we found you, we just wanted to help you find your way again."

I was trying my best not to cry. These guys gave me a home when I didn't have one. They cared about me when no one did. They helped me find hope when I had none. I can't believe after tonight I won't ever be able to see them again. I put away all the presents and enjoyed the rest of tonight while it lasted.

*that night*

After the cake we spent the day watching movies and playing board games. It was now time for bed. I'm going to miss these guys. They took me in and treated me like a family but, if I don't go, Valerie will die. I would never be able to live with myself if she died. I choked back a sob as I left them a note. Then, I snuck out of my capsule.

"Libby, what are you doing up?" Someone asked.

I turned around and saw Tasha.

"I'm just going for a walk." I said.

She looked at me like she didn't believe it.

I sighed. "Tasha, please. I promise I'll be right back."

She nodded. "ok."

I felt guilty lying to her, but if I told her I wasn't ever going to see her again, I would've had to explain myself, then she would've called the cops and I would never see Valerie again.

I held back a sob as I ran off into the night, never to see my family again.
