Chapter Ten:

Curiosity Killed the Cat

-...-

First it was his ears that picked up sound, and then the rest started to fall into place. He began to feel cold metal pressed against his arm and as he slowly opened his eyes at last, it all came crashing down on him. He struggled for air as he tried to make sense of what was happening at the moment. There was red lights all around, but his vision was still a bit blurry.

Tyler tried to move, but that was quickly stopped with one important fact. He was inside a metal shell of an animatronic. He was in pain, and he wasn't sure why. He couldn't tell if the shell was tied to him or glued to him or bolted to him, and he guessed with all the pain it had to be something painful. It could see out of the eyes of the shell, but other then that, anybody who looked at him would think he was nothing more then an animatronic.

Tyler groaned, trying to move. As his sight got better slowly by slowly, he began to look at his surroundings. He was in a small square room, on a chair that looked like a scary dentist chair. There were tools and metal parts everywhere, and Tyler stopped and stared when he saw blood. On the chair, on the floor, on the tools. Was it his? He was so out of it, it probably was.

Tyler was able to sit up and sit with his legs dangling off the side of the chair. It hurt. It really truly did, and he had tears in his eyes. Every move brought more pain. But he couldn't stop himself. He was alive, at least he was pretty sure he was. Tyler took a deep breath, in and out, and looked around again. He saw computers on desks around the table, all with the same screen. A red screen that had words on it. Words that Tyler could only put together to say “EXPERIMENT FAILED”. The red was bright, and it hurt his eyes.

Continuing on, Tyler sat there for a few long minutes before taking the step to getting off the chair. He took a deep breath, in and out, and pushed himself gently off. His feet in the floor and the metal made a loud sound that hurt his ear. My, how everything hurt. Tyler paused, his body shaking, and then took a step. And another, and another. He stopped at the door, raising his shaking hand to touch the door knob. My, how it all hurt.

Tyler opened the door, which opened with a quiet click. He peeked out into the hallway to find it was silent. Nobody was in sight. So he walked out, not bothering to close the door. Thoughts were coming and leaving his head left and right, for he had no room to hold them all, and the more he thought, the more it hurt. He didn't know which way he was going, but he walked on and on down a white hallway. At one point, his vision had blurred out again, and he was blindly walking forward. It wasn't till he turned a corner and found himself at a familiar door did he stop. His legs buzzed and shook as he looked up at the door, which had a light blue 4 on it. He blinked a few times. My, how It all hurt.

Walking in finally, he found himself in the hall of fame. The hall of animatronics. He was told to go here, right? He didn't know, he was drawn to it at least. Inside, he looked around, his neck in pain, and he saw all these animatronics. They were not moving, they just sorta stood there in their own little places, name tags and all. His foot steps echoed and he found himself, after long minutes of gazing at the other robots, at the end of the hall. There was something different though. Something he didn't remember. At the end of the hall was a small desk with wires and controls on it, as well as a box.

It was the box he was told about, but all Tyler knew was that it was familiar. It looked like a cooler though, so he had doubts. Above it was a switch, or a leaver, he wasn't sure, that had a bright blue handle. There were word of warning around it, but he couldn't read them. He felt drawn to it, and soon, all he could think about was pulling that switch. All his thoughts of pain and agony were shoved out, and he ignored it all. He wanted the leaver. And so, he pulled it.
