Cole didn't seemed fazed by Kat's sudden change of plans. "What are you talking about? You can't seriously be getting cold feet about this whole exposeé thing already?"

"No it's not that," Kat judge  in annoyance. She was hoping that the time the teenager had spent with the doctor would have made him a little more tolerable. "But I think you and I are going to have to switch roles. Considering how close you'll be with Dr. Lawson and his wife, you'll have an easier time getting information out of them."

"Yeah right," Cole scoffed. "They're not going to tell an intern anything important."

"You must be forgetting that I was an intern a long time ago. And I learned way more than I ever wanted to know about the way the hospital was run. And what exactly make  you think The Deep will treat you any better than our bosses will?" Cole shut up for a while after that, eating his food while deep in thought.

"Fine," he said after he finished. "That's what this job is about anyway. Taking risks. Don't approach him at first, it's a small place, so you'll run into him eventually." The rest of dinner continued in silence.

In the morning, Kat made breakfast again, and drove the both of them to work. Once they reached the building, they went their separate ways. Kat met up with Layla near the entrance to the hospital area of the building. Kat decided to wear the uniform as it was given to her, a feeble attempt to build trust with the others in the facility.

Layla tapped her on the shoulder, distracting Kat from her thoughts. "Hey there! Excited to get to work?" Layla asked cheerfully.

"You know it." Kat said, lightly punching her in the arm. The friendliness almost distracted her from what she was supposed to find out. "Hey, when's that important meeting happening anyway?"

"Well, Dr. Lawson wants to keep impressions up, so if we can, he wants us to stay after work today. Apparently he's saying that only his 'most trusted employees' can come, which is all of us since we're so understaffed." Layla said, unlocking the door to the medical wing.

"Are you going to go?" Kat asked while looking into the tanks, making sure everything was good before they did their in depth checkups.

"Yeah, Dr. Lawson usually doesn't ask much of us, so when he does I make sure to do it." Layla said, feeding some of the fish in the main tank.

"Well, if you're going then you know I am too." Kat said, using a pipette to drop medicine into one of the tanks.

"Should be pretty exciting. Not at lot happens around here anymore." Layla said. "I think our newest intern might puss himself at the sight of The Deep." Wait, Cole?

"What do you mean?" Kat asked, stopping what she was doing. She didn't know much about the person she was currently living with, but the fact that he was a fanboy for the Supes would be pretty hard to miss.

"Yeah, I guess he's a huge fan of The Deep or something. I'm not going to be the one to break it to him that the guy's actually a shithead." Kat had to admit that it was difficult to imagine Cole caring about anything, but she just assumed that meeting the Supe must've been a perk to working on this case.

"Huh." Kat said, continuing her work like nothing had happened. She and Layla worked the rest of the day in the hospital wing. There were no incoming "patients," so besides taking care of the animals that were already there, there wasn't much to do. Kat felt like time was crawling by, and she couldn't wait for the meeting after work, despite knowing that she wouldn't engage the target there anyways.

When the time finally came, Kat told Cole that they should meet up by her car before going in. She waited until a few minutes before she was supposed to arrive, and there was no sign of Cole. This made her worried, but Kat had to assume that he was  just running late as she headed to the meeting room.

When she walked in, only her coworkers, Cole, and her bosses were inside. The Deep and his agent were supposed to be there in 10 minutes. Kat tried going over and talking to Cole, but she couldn't risk anyone overhearing about the real reason they had gotten jobs there. Kat and Layla indulged in small talk with the others that worked there.

Suddenly, the door to the meeting room opened, and in walked The Deep and a man Kat could only guess was the person Vought put in charge while he was in exile. Kat was almost stunned at first. She had only seen the man in pictures before, and he had apparently gotten a haircut since those days. There was something else in his face that she couldn't describe. She quickly realized that she was staring for too long at him, but everyone else was doing the same, so it didn't look like the Supe noticed.

"Alright, why don't we start now that we're all here?" The agent said.

"Agreed." Mrs. Lawson said. She motioned for everyone to sit down, and they all did so.

Layla slid Kat a note pad and a pen in front of her, similar ones already in front of Layla. "I figured you'd want to help me look like someone important." She whispered.

"Thanks." Kat smiled gratefully at her.

As the meeting went on, The Deep wasn't nearly a  involved in the dealings as Kat had assumed he'd be. She mainly took notes on how he acted, since he hadn't said a word yet.

One of the perks of journalism was the way each reporter was able to form their own style of notes. If someone even attempted to try and read her notes, they would look illegible. The important part was being able to write only the most crucial details, and write them fast.

She wrote down how he was barely paying attention to what was being said, and spent most of the meeting looking at the neatly printed handouts that described what was being asked of the hero that Mrs. Lawson gave both of the men.

Once the meeting ended, light refreshments were offered, and Kat barely had one page of notes. Nothing of it would even be useful. She decided to stay on the opposite side of the room as the Supe.

A familiar voice cut through the hum of chatter in the room. Kat turned her head and saw Cole talking to The Deep with the same energy as a child on Christmas. What the hell?
