Shravya had taken voluntary retirement from college. She didn't feel like working anymore. But, after leaving college, her loneliness only increased.
At last, she had to comprehend about her children's advice and she planned a long journey for herself.
She searched whole day through travel sites. Where should she go? How to start? And how to travel?
Those tour planners would make arrangements of everything, but one important thing always remains undiscussed, company!
Company of someone close, company of your loved ones!
She was habituated of staying in her comfort zone. Comfort of staying close to her loved ones. But now, probably she would have to change her habit.
Her mind couldn't decide and continued swinging between yes or no. But at the end, gathering courage she booked tickets for herself.
She then called her children, who were apparently not children anymore but a mother will be always a mother and her kids will be always kids for her, throughout the life. It was a conference call, as always.
“Mom, have a lot of fun. Enjoy yourself. You should travel throughout the world.”
Her children, who used to say all that, when they heard Shravya telling about her tour, she felt silence spreading between them. What happened now? Did she do something wrong?
Shravya also waited patiently for their comments, but no one spoke anything. After sometime Ankita said,
“As you wish, Mom!”
“What do you mean by ‘As you wish’, Beta? It was your wish na? You both wanted me to go for a world tour, since always. Right!?”
Shravya said emphasizing on her words. From other side, what she received was only a deep sigh from Ankita.
“Humm!”
Then within a few seconds, Ankit said.
“I hope, you would enjoy the trip in this age. Good Luck!”
And call got disconnected.
Shravya sat there for a long, silently. She kept staring at her tickets. On the top of which, it was written,
Asia's leading cruise line.
Seven days, in the sea.Shravya had booked herself a deluxe ocean view cabin. Determination filled her mind and She started packing her luggage, deciding to keep all unwanted thoughts somewhere far. For sometime at least, her time should belong to her, only her.
Though, she couldn't understand her children's resentment, or maybe this time she pretended to be unknown even after comprehending.
________
As fast as the day of her trip was nearing, her mind was getting restless.
Whenever her phone ringed, she would get startled and hope that it would be from Ankita, who would say,
“Don't go alone, Mom. We will also accompany you!”
Or Ankit, who would laugh saying,
“Are you going to sea for scuba diving, Mom?
Come to my place instead. I miss you!”But no, no one called her. No one questioned her, asking 'How are you going?' Or 'when are you going?' or 'with whom are you going?'
Her heart was torn in pieces, as if pieces of clothes and she knew, now she would have to stitch it by her own. Otherwise, it won't be left of any use.
