Second chances...
How lucky i am.
Penny came in and gave me a glass of water.
'Thank you.'

'What is the date today?' I ask after drinking my glass of water and set it in the table.

She said '16 August'. I pressed on'year?'

She look at me in confusion but then answered '2000'

The glass slipped through my fingers before i set it on the table. 'Miss are u alright?'

I sat down on the chair. Such timing and on the day i met my mate. I remember like it was yesterday. His golden hair and electric blue eyes reeling me in. I bumped into him at my party and realized he was my mate. I shook my head trying to forget the memory while Penny called in a few maids and cleaned up the shards of glass.

I cursed the day we met. We were both from prominent families. His kingdom lies in the south while my kingdom lies in the north. We were never suppose to cross each other but the odds were never in your favour you see.

Our kingdoms were always at war with each other since centuries ago. When one day he snuck into our borders to infiltrate our base that's when i met him. He was dashing as ever and i fell hard. I never learned until the end how we were never meant to be.

I stood up and decided i must avoid my fate in meeting him today. I stood up and ran to my father's office. I knock twice and went in. Well is should have waited for his reply because my mother is now in his lap kissing him. Ewww.

'Wow okay that's enough. Your daughter is present.' My father said 'Geez Nina, your eighteen it's just a kiss.'

My mother stood up and went to me kissing me on the head. I replied 'Yeah well the last time it wasn't just a kiss'

My dad rolled his eyes while my mum ask me 'Honey shoudnt you be preparing for your party'

'Well the thing is mum can i not have my birthday party?'

'Well no because we invited alot of people and it's your eighteenth birthday, the day you-   '

' - know who is your mate i know. But i dont want to mated so soon.' I hugged my mum 'Plus, i dont want to part with u all'

'But u have to find your mate honey, we want you to be happy' She pat me on the head.

'Yes Nina, look at your mother and I we're happy and with you in the picture. Dont you want a family?' My dad said.

'Well i do just not now, now but a few years maybe? ' I tried convincing them.

'For now just attend to your own birthday party and let fate takes it's place' My dad replied.

'Fate be damned. I refuse to have a mate.'
I cross my arms against my chest.

'Hey honey i thought you were excited to meet your mate and you proposed this birthday party.' My mother said

'I changed my mind i dont want it.' I said.

'Too late now we sent the invitations, everyone in the pack is coming. Come on it will be fun. The pack celebrating your birthday together' my dad said.

'okay, whatever it's just a party. I'll go get ready now.' I walk back to my room.

I have to avoid meeting him no matter what.
