Friend (top definition)
A friend is someone you love and who loves you, someone you respect and who respects you, someone whom you trust and who trusts you. A friend is honest and makes you want to be honest, too. A friend is loyal.
A friend is someone who is happy to spend time with you doing absolutely nothing at all; someone who doesn't mind driving you on stupid , who will get up at midnight just because you want to go on an adventure, and who doesn't have to talk to communicate with you.
A friend is someone who not only doesn't care if or boring, but doesn't even think about it; someone who forgives you no matter what you do, and someone who tries to help you even when they don't know how. A friend is someone who tells you if you're , but who doesn't make you feel stupid.
A friend is someone who would sacrifice their life and happiness for you. A friend is someone who will come with you when you have to do boring things like watch bad recitals, go to parties, or wait in boring . You don't even think about who's talking or who's listening in a conversation with a friend.
A friend is someone for whom you're willing to change your opinions. A friend is someone you look forward to seeing and who looks forward to seeing you: someone you much, if you share interests or traits. A friend is someone you like so much, you start to like the things they like.
A friend is a partner, not a leader or a follower.
The word "friend" comes from Old English "frē", which is actually the present of "frē", which means "to love" and "to honor".

I catch the bus just as it comes.
Perfect timing!
I get off at Ste. Genevieve Elementary.
I go in to meet Winnie's homeroom teacher.
Ms. Peterson is nice. As soon as she sees me and Winnie, she smiles nice and wide.
Then she looks at Winnie and bends to her level, "You must be Winter aren't you?"
And Winnie nods shyly.
"A beautiful name for a beautiful girl. And you must be Summer", she says smiling at me.
I nod.
"I'm Ms. Peterson. Mrs. Reed's told me a lot about you girls."
"You know Granna?" Winnie asks and she nods.
"Oh yes! Your Granna is the best! She told me what sweet little angels you girls are", and she smiles warmly, "Come on. That will be you classroom."
And she takes Winnie in and comes back.
"I know moving to a new town can be hard, but we're not bad. I know you'll love it here."
I nod again and smile at her.
"I'll go now then. School's gonna start soon."
"Oh yes. Senior year, isn't it?"
I nod and say my goodbyes as I wave at her and she waves back.
I know at least one person in town now.
What an achievement!
The walk to school didn't take as much time as I thought it would.
As I walk inside the school, I look around and see that this school isn't as big as New York.
It's nice though.
Everything's nice here.
Nothing too flashy.
Then I see a mustang pull up into the school parking area.
Music is blasting out of the car and I see every head turning towards it.
And then a girl and three guys come out.
And all heads turn towards them.
And I notice one of the guys—the one with shaggy blonde hair—stood out and I realized he was kinda familiar.
Is that dude the neighbor guy?
Mae, no time for irrelevant thoughts..
So I head straight to the office to get my schedule for the day.
The lady at office was giving me creeps with that carpet-eye glasses and purple matted hair..
Like no offense but honestly, purple hair just wasn't her thing.
Sorry not sorry.
She was talking in weird accent, not a Missouri accent but just plain weird.
And that made her even more creepy..
I'm not going near her if really didn't have to..
So I grab my schedule as fast I could and checked my locker.
It's 321B.
Nice..
So first is English, Room 12A.
Nothing too difficult.
So I head to locker, and I see a crowd around a locker a little away from mine.
I guess one of the popular guys?
And I see the guy..
Shoot. This is not how I want to meet my neighbor.
Like do I want to meet him ever? Like nooo.
I'm more of a suffer in silence person.
So socialization is strictly prohibited!
So I grab my books and walk into my new class.
Thank God.. I'm early! I show my schedule to the teacher, Mrs. Darwin who is surprisingly nice.
I just hope she won't ask me to introduce myself.
Keeping to myself hasn't helped me much due to the fear of public humiliation.
So I settle myself in the corner.
But as soon as the class starts, I regret calling the teacher nice.
She literally went like, "So students, we have a new arrival from New York! Why don't you we all welcome her? Summer can you please come introduce yourself?"
Shoot! This was going to be a looooong day!
I said something and I guess since my accent was different, it was weird or something?
So as soon as I returned to my seat, I shut out everything around me.
By the time my third class was over, someone tapped my shoulder.
"Hey, you must be Summer? The girl from New York?"
She was blonde and cute in the sort of way that made you think of a kitten.
All talk. No bite.
"Um.. yeah. I'm Summer Reed. And you are?"
"Cooper, Aria Cooper. It's nice to meet you Summer! Teachers giving to you hard huh? Self intro and all?"
I knew then we would so hit it off!
"Obviously! It's so tiring!"
"Yeah right! So wanna eat lunch with me?"
"Oh yeah, sure!"
It was better than eating alone I guess!
I'm just glad to have made a new friend being this introverted.
