Alaric
There was this weird commotion going outside.
A truck parked outside??
I guess dad decided to sell the house next to ours.
It'd been empty for so long.
It used to be my mother's guest house.
Us being us, had to welcome a lot of people.
Family friends, business associates, and what not...
And with mom being the warm woman she was, welcomed all our guests to stay there.
Dad.... he does not live with us anymore.
I don't even know that man now...
All the guests, the business partners... they all have meetings with dad in hotels or luxury spas now.
Vi usually stays with our aunt down the block.
Vi needs her mother, but this is all she can get.
Our family has become so estranged after her passing.
When she stayed with me in our house, Vi would get nightmares about my mom.
I know it.
Deep within me, I know.
It wasn't an accident that killed her.
It definitely wasn't.
Someone as powerful as my mom couldn't just die in an accident.
I know it.
And if I don't protect the rest of my family, they might be next.
I would rather die than let Vi...
No... I don't even want to think about it..
I look outside to see a girl about my age.
Her hands are filled with boxes.
And a little girl half asleep slowly walks behind her clutching her hand.
I see a man talking to the man in the truck.
Must be her father.
I don't see her mother.
She must be inside.
What a gift it is to have. A mom.
She won't realize it until the day her moms gone. Forevermore.
Memories of my mom flood my head.
The little things we shared.
I go into my room.
She's there, the girl.
Her window is opposite to mine.
She sets her box down as she takes in her room.
I shouldn't pry too much.
I need to go.
I grab my guitar and walk out.
Once I'm outside, I take in the truck again.
And I look to her window.
A silhouette moves away quickly.
She's been watching me...
I smile to myself as I get in car and drive off.
-x-x-x-
I saw her again today.
She seemed preoccupied with something or in a hurry.
Must be the reason why she slammed into me.
That's when I got a clear look at her face.
She looks... like.. like...
My mom?What?!
The resemblance is there.
