Even as a Christian, sometimes God allows us to go through tough times "all by ourselves". Sometimes it is needed. Often we need the confidence and strength, which is taken from the unfavorable experience. We need to be able to say...
"I went through that by myself; therefore, I can get through this by myself."
When in reality, as a Christian, we were never alone. It is as if God decided to fall behind a bit, so He can allow us to think we lead the way. This gives us confidence in ourselves; but this also comforts us, for God watched our back the entire time. When we "reminisce" on those challenging times, we realize God was/is there on all sides...at every angle.
We didn't notice, perhaps we forgot He is omnipresent, but God was in front, leading us onward. He is the only reason why we are still here. Even if the decision we chose was not apart of His plan, God improvises. He will get us to where we need to be. Always. If we are willing.
It is astonishing. God was not just in front leading the way or behind supporting us, He was above us. As we journeyed through dark times, even bright times, He kept watch over us. God was, is, and forever will be watching over us. He knows what lays beyond the bend. We must believe and trust...He will prepare us for troubling times. However that may be.
Even as God was in all three spots, He was beneath us, keeping us afloat. Troubling times are often tempting times. Times of drowning. Understand, God will allow us to sink. He will allow us to tread water. We will hold our breath. We may begin to drown. But He will never let us die by drowning (metaphorically) in water; rather, temptations. God never allows Satan to tempt us beyond our strength...beyond what we can individually handle. He, so long as we trust in Him, will keep us "afloat" frequently. Again, with Him, we may sink, but will never die drowning.
I speak of this in the past tense. But, quite frankly, this all applies to present-day and the future. Whether it was in the past or is in the now, or the future...
We were never alone.
We are never alone.
We will never be alone.
Just as God has always been and will always be...
So will His love for you and me.
