Into the deep woods

Chapter seven: The Great Escape.

A gust of wind blew making the leaves sway. The whole atmosphere left no trace of sound to be heard. I started to sob. Is fate really playing with me??? Breaking my heart every second I encounter??? First... the memories of my broken family went back... then now I heard the True story of uncle Mark??? ... one of the people I trust the most. 

I heard the rustling of the bushes. Its the first sound I heard since the wind blew minutes ago. "Psst... Hey!!!" A voice whispered near the bushes. I did not dare to look at that direction. Besides... that voice is familiar "I'm gonna get you out of here." he uttered with a trembling voice.

"Psshh..."  I scoffed. I don't need to turn around. That voice was the voice of the person who led me into this. " You say you want to help???... Well maybe you thought of it in the first place... and helped me get back home" I said coldly while resting my head on the wall that was lined with vines and moss. The whole area was silent again. 

"Let's face it... I am never going to get out of here...". That was the only thing that I can say. I know the situation is completely hopeless... and showing it won't help a lot. 

Then Suddenly... i heard the Clanging of the metal chain that binds the door and the cage. I felt anoher cold wind blew. Then a shadow blocked the shiny moonlight from penetrating through. He knelt beside me... in an attempt to comfort me. 

He held out a hand. "Come on... It's getting late. And probably... your mom will be looking for you" then he affixed a smile. It was not just the same eerie smile smile i kept looking at a while ago. His smile... I know It's the smile that a someone with a warm and caring heart always wears. 

I reached for his hand. The nervous feeling I have a while ago collapsed then. A cloud partly moves to the left side and it shows the clear moon and the dark sky scattered with stars. 

*Pak* 

I hit him so hard in the arm. LoL XD. "Oww... what was that for???" He groaned. I chuckled softly... So naive XD. "Well... that was for leading me in your 'so - called - paradise" I said while waving my arms randomly around the air. " Plus... If yu wanted to help... you could have thought of it in the first place and not lead me there... " *sigh* "But... you did help me escape... sooo..." I reach my hand to him..."Fwends???" Then I flashed a wide smile together with my puppy eyes and held out my right hand. seriously. He scoffed for a split second then shaked my hand. We looked forward through the forest. It was such a scene. As the blue moonlight casts its light clearly in the forest, we spot two paths. 

One path was sprinkled with a lot of dead leaves coming from the trees that line the side. On the other hand, the other path was very dusty and instead of trees, It was filled with bushes, mostly rose bushes. "Uhmm... We'll go... That way!!!" He said pointing at the path where there were many trees. "How are you so sure???" I asked. He stared at me. one eyebrow raised. Oh yeah... Right!!!. 

We walked up to the road... kicking and stepping onto the dead leaves that are scattered in the ground. The crackling of the dead leaves are the only ones who makes the noise. Or... wait... That was a while ago. Now a lot of rustling bushes were heard. My feet moved automatically and my pace went faster and faster to the point we can hardly breathe of running. 

Out of nowhere... something jumped out of the bushes while we we're running. Im glad I was able to dodge it. Then another one came out of the rose bush near my left side. Edmund pushed me away. The force was so great that I nearly lost my balance. I kept running... but I noticed that my footsteps are the only thing I hear. 

I looked back. "What are you doing??? RUN!!!!" I screamed to him while taking a few steps backwards. Now the whole pack was Attacking him. "Just go... without me!!!" He screamed back... punching a werewolf that emerged from another bush. On even tried to get close to me, but he stopped them. I hear one of them saying " The food can wait... once when we deal with this traitor... there's no escape". Even though I want to help... I knew I'm to weak to. 

I Jolted and went through the dusty road. Not because I want to save myself... But because I don't want to see someone suffering again because of me... even though I want to help... I... know I'll lose. Damn!!! Here we go again. I remember my dad and my sister. Remembering them makes me... just want to die and give up. 

Not long enough... I found a cottage nearby. It was made of stiff wood and there was smoke coming out of the chimney. Maybe I can ask help... from whoever the owner of this cottage is. I knock politely then spoke "Hello... Is... anyone there???". No answer. I try again. Still no answer. When I was about to walk away, the door creaked and It revealed an old man. He was slightly taller than me and He wore  green shirt with jumpers. 

"Oh... what a surprise!!! well come on in dear... I know you're feeling cold" He said gesturing his hand inside his home. I stepped in and saw a bizarre collection that only hunters have. The floor was topped with a bear rug, usually what we see most from shows about hunters. The wall was embellished with random items such as shotguns and bullheads. 

"Lovely... Isn't it???" He said with a low and grumpy voice while sitting in his chair and admiring the rest of his menagerie. "Indeed..." was the only thing that I was able to say after the rest of what I saw.

I looked at the chimney. The fire was so bright and warm. Around it we're painted motifs of the colors green and brown... But that did not catch my attention... Instead... the mugshot above the chimney!!! I went closer until I can see the Photograph clearly...

What I saw next made my Jaw drop...

What could be his connection with...
