Jisoo sat across the restaurant table from Yeri.
"Yeri, what's going on with Lalisa?" Jisoo asked.
"I don't know." Yeri lowered her gaze to the food before her. "You know it's been pretty bad with us."
"So, you don't know if she and Lalisa?"
Yeri looked up and met Jisoo's sad eyes with matching ones.
"As far as I know, Lalisa hasn't seen her. Knowing her, she's waiting for the perfect time to swoop in and be a knight in shining armor."
"Lalisa. A knight?" Jisoo couldn't begin to imagine.
"She's not quite sure how to handle this new Jennie." Yeri reached across the table and set her hand atop Jisoo. "Don't get me wrong. She's interested. I think more now than before."
Jisoo knew the feeling. Jennie since the accident had gotten under her skin without her realizing it.
"Yeri, do you really think they were having an affair? Before?" Jisoo felt her insides ripping apart at the thought of Jennie with Lalisa.
Yet, Jenni asked her twice and she didn't have the answer as to why.
"Lalisa rubbed it in our faces that they were. But, I've discovered along the way that my ex-wife isn't always honest. I don't know what to believe. Especially after what happened at the house."
Jisoo set her glass down and looked at Yeri. "Your ex-wife?"
Yeri looked down, unable to look Jisoo in the eye. "I'm sorry Jisoo. You had so much going on. The last thing you needed was hearing my problems."
"Lalisa did all this when?"
Yeri let a sigh go. "She served me with divorce papers right before Jennie's accident. In the office. She knew I wouldn't make a scene with the foremen around. I signed them and that's that. End of my marriage."
Jisoo sat back in her chair and let a breath go. Why would Lalisa choose that timing to file for divorce? Right when Jennie was pressing her on theirs.
"It was only a matter of time then," Jisoo said. "What happened at the house."
Jisoo watched Yeri pick at her meal. She was going through hell. Again.
"Have you been able to connect with our designer?" Jisoo asked to change the subject.
"I'm sorry Jisoo. The email I got back from them said they would work directly with the Senators office."
"No response on meeting with us?"
"I'm sorry Jisoo. I guess since we never had a joint contract before, they aren't willing to this time either."
Jisoo sat back in her chair. "How could we do business without meeting with them this whole time?" she asked.
"Jisoo, it's not like you work side by side. They come in after our part is done."
"I want to meet with them."
"I told you. I haven't been able to get that set."
Jisoo took a bite of her meal.
"Then, let's find another company to work with. I'm tired of all this run around."
"Jisoo, you're just saying this because you're frustrated." Yeri told her.
"Of course I'm frustrated! My wife is being as elusive as..."
"Jisoo, this government contract has you distracted at work."
