Chapter 1- The Silver Phoenix
"No." I deadpanned to my roommate Pierce as he taunted me for the third time.
"Come on mate it'll be fun, I promise." He begged.
I rose up my hand to stop him "You promising only tells me that this is going to turn out much worse."
Pierce rolled his eyes "Don't be dramatic Kenny. It doesn't always happen like that." I scoffed watching him run his fingers through his blonde quiff. When we first met I teased him endlessly about how much he resembled the Irish dude from that boy band and made sure to sing a demented version of their songs everyday just to piss him off. Which it's such an irony because he's also Irish.
It may also be because I found a poster of the same boy band buried under his bed, which he denies ownership to but I know better.
"You realize that what you're asking me to join you to do is illegal right?" I asked matter-of-factly placing my highlighter behind my ear.
"It's almost midnight no one's gonna know." Pierce tried to negotiate with me.
"Right, the precious time I could be using to sleep or study is when you want to initiate me into a life of crime." I said further to get my point across.
"It's not a crime. We're just going to get on one of those fancy yachts for an hour or so then hop off with no one getting hurt at all." He ended like it was the most logical thing on earth.
"The answer is still no. Plus it is a crime considering the fact that it's private property and we'll be trespassing on it which calls for several points of arrest. And if the owners' nice enough we might not have any charges pressed." I stated clearly for him.
Pierce huffed in what seemed to be annoyance "Sometimes I wonder why you're an English major instead of going for Law. You seem very good at it."
I shrugged trying not to smile smugly at the comment "Eh I guess."
I turned to my textbook in satisfaction thinking that was the end of it but Pierce had other ideas seeing as he plopped himself on my bed without warning.
"Get your ass outta my bed douchebag!" I shouted trying to push him off and save my poor textbook.
He grinned like a Tasmanian devil "Not until you say yes Kenny."
"For the last time I'm not going to help you trash a random boat with your friends!" I yelled right in his face but Pierce didn't even flinch a bit. He raised an eyebrow "Well I didn't want to do this, but you leave me no choice."
"What are you talking about?" I asked pausing from punching his back to face him in suspicion.
"Good thing I had Mexican for lunch." He said nonchalantly. My look of confusion turned into a look of horror as soon as I understood what he was implying.
"You wouldn't dare." I said lowly narrowing my eyes.
Pierce shrugged then sent me a smug look "Try me." He wiggled his butt which any day I might have pretended not to admire but not it only resembled a plump cannon of destruction.
"I'm warning you-oh shit!" my hands flew to protect my nose as Pierce shamelessly, farted all over my bed and textbook. "Dude you're sick!"
He remained impassive until he was completely done. I glared at him "What the hell is wrong with you?"
"It's the only way I can you to say yes." He replied again smiling as if he hadn't just burnt a smelly hole through my bed. I rolled my eyes "What makes you think I'm going to say yes?"
