Sam's POV
Tears flew down my cheek as I ran away from home, with only a small bag of my belongings on my back. The rain stung my cheeks and the wind whipped my hair into my eyes, as my old, ratty Converse splashed through puddles. I'm such a fuck up. I'm a worthless, waste of space. I hadn't even done anything wrong! My step-father decided it would be fun to push me down the stairs of our grand two-storey house, then abuse me until I was reduced to begging for mercy. I'd learnt not to do that, because it would always get me bashed more….or worse. But this time, he let me go! And with that, I packed a large backpack of clothes, and my most prized belongings and fled that house before anyone had time to stop me.
My mind was spinning as I ran, getting further and further away from my old life, and my abusive, alcoholic parents. If running is meant to clear your mind, it's not working for me, if anything, it's making me think more!
A big gust of wind, pushed my tall, frail body to the ground as the rain poured on down, hammering onto my body, leaving my sopping wet in my Of Mice & Men singlet and ripped skinnies. A clap of thunder sounded suddenly, and I jumped, curling into the near-by fence.
Ha, I wouldn’t even make it to their concert tonight. I was both angered and saddened at the though of that fact I wouldn't be able to see - and possibly - meet my idols before I rid myself of this never-ending sadness and take my own life.
"Fuck you," I screamed into the empty black night. I wouldn't make it through tonight if I didn’t find shelter soon, but fuck it. I'd rather freeze to death than be found by my parents.
I curled into a little ball in the middle of the footpath, leaning against the fence, and sobbed uncontrollably, thinking how badly I've fucked up, and how worthless and pathetic I was until I passed out from the cold.
