Chapter 38

{ O P H E L I A  POV }

I slowly open my eyes to bright light and wince when I feel slight pain. With too much difficulty and pain I sit on the bed pushing off the silky sheets covering me. I sigh when I remember how I fainted after the match with Cadence. I frown when I remember how Nate carried her to god knows where! That jerk!

I stumble out of the bed and when I stand up to walk towards the bathroom, I almost loose my balance as I feel a sharp shooting pain in my ankle. Damn I forgot her wolf had bit my ankle in that match!

I limp slowly towards the bathroom to take a shower. I peel off the shirt I was wearing noticing how the wounds have almost healed, the claw marks on my clavicle disappearing and how the wound in my arms can now be faintly seen. Only the pain from the bite remains. I shower and change into some comfy clothes, a grey T shirt and sweat pants so that it hides my still reddened ankle. After drying my hair I make my way out limping, searching for Nate. Shouldn't a mate be present when his mate wakes up all injured? Atleast this is what usually happens right?

Let's go see our mate. My wolf says and I scoff.

She might be wanting to see because she misses him but I want to see him because I want some answers! Now!

I make my way towards his office and instead of knocking, I push open the door and march, actually limp my way inside with my head held high. I freeze when I see several pairs of eyes looking at me from their seats which includes Carl, Dylan, Tom, alpha king and Nate sitting around a table. Dylan and Tom snicker while alpha king gives me a nod. And Nate.. shouldn't he be happy to see me but damn no, he is glaring at me. I can feel the razor sharp looks he is sending towards me. But why? What did I do? I roll my eyes at him and walk towards them. Carl exchanges a look with alpha king and asks me. "How are you feeling? Are your wounds healed?" I'm sure alpha king mind linked Carl to ask this.

"Yes they are..." I say and he nods. "Good, in two days time it's all healed." He smiles. What? Two days? I was asleep for two days...damn!

Alpha king clears his throat, "Since you are here you should join us in this meeting and give your suggestions!" Alpha says in a gruff voice and Carl pulls out a chair besides Nate for me to sit. I thank and sit all the while feeling Nate burning holes in the side of my face.

"Next week is my mother's birthday, so every year on that day we have a charity ball, we donate a large sum of money to the human orphanages and hospitals. So we are discussing about the measures we have to take for safety." Nate says and I nod.

"Many alphas of other packs will be attending this too. So arrangements have to be done for their stay that night." Carl says. I wonder if alpha Woods will be attending too. Every year I had heard about this ball, sadly I couldn't go as only alphas were invited.

The meeting goes for another hour where they discuss how pack guards will be assigned to the human who will be attending the ball for their safety, how more number of guards will be posted at the borders and how Nate is gonna be stuck with me on that day for my protection. He should go protect Cadence! I wanted to say this out loud but kept it to myself. They also assured me that Dominic would not make any move as there will be many alphas from all over country present so he wouldn't take any chance and get captured.

When the meeting was done alpha king left followed by Carl and Tom. Though I came here to get some answers from Nate but I don't know what happened in these two days I was asleep, that he looks so tensed and pissed off. Throughout the meeting I saw him clenching his fists many times and sitting all stiff. He looked like a time bomb waiting to explode. I saw how alpha king was at times observing him too but other than that he didn't comment.
