chapter i, episode i ☆

"Teagan! Are ya alive?" A shout came from the other side of Teagan's bedroom door followed by a firm knock on the oak wood.

Nimble fingers clasped the gold chain around her neck as the redhead responded, "coming!" Tucking the sapphire pendant underneath her crisp white shirt to hide the mild violation of uniform, she stepped in front of her full length mirror. After rolling up her skirt a couple times and adjusting her tie, the young girl concluded she was happy with her appearance. She could never find a skirt to fit her dainty legs properly; the one she wore currently was the smallest size and it still stopped at an awkward length just below her knees which, in Teagan's opinion, looked stupid. So, she had no choice but to make her own alterations to the green plaid garment.

"Teagan!" The voice impatiently hollered again, this time from downstairs.

"I'm coming!" The teenager replied, more harshly this time as she hated being rushed. Making sure the hair grips that she had used to pin back the fiery red locks were secure, Teagan grabbed her black and white polka dotted school bag before exiting her room.

She made her way downstairs and into the kitchen, where she found the eldest of her two brothers, Liam. The man whom the impatient hollers belonged to.

"Where's Niall?" The hazel-eyed girl questioned, noticing the absence of the middle O'Sullivan sibling as she put two slices of bread in the toaster.

"He stayed over at David's. Practicing for tonight's gig, probably." The dark blond haired man replied as he slipped on his coat, "right, I'm off. Make sure you're not late for your first day, alright?" He said, placing a small kiss on the crown of his little sister's head as she took a seat at the round dining table, plate of toast in hand.

"Wouldn't dream of it." She sent him a sarcastically sweet smile. Liam rolled his eyes and gave the cheeky girl a "I'm serious" look before the two said their final goodbyes and he left the house.

As Teagan munched through her toast, she found herself absentmindedly fiddling with the blue crystal that hung around her neck. A habit she often caught herself doing without even realising whenever she wore the piece of jewellery. She didn't usually wear it to school. Being her mother's necklace, it was without a doubt the most precious thing she owned. It held priceless sentimental value and normally, she would never risk losing it or having it confiscated. But wearing it bought the red headed girl a sort of comfort that she would never find anywhere else, to know that her late mother was with her in a way, even if it wasn't physically. Teagan felt as though she needed that comfort on the first day of school.

"Shit." She muttered, glancing at the clock and realising she had less that five minutes before she had to be out the door. After putting her used plate in the sink, Teagan made her way out into hallway where she grabbed her denim jacket off of it's respective hook. As she slipped her pasty arms through the sleeves of the jacket, she was thankful Liam had already left for work as she knew he wouldn't have let her wear it.
