chapter v, episode iv

"Should we get a large portion of chips or regular?"

"Large. There's never enough to go around with a regular portion."

"Aye, I'll put down large. Do you think we should get two portions or will one be enough?"

"Will you two get a shift on? If I don't get down the chippy soon we won't even get a look in." Teagan interrupted her two brothers who were writing down their chippy order. It was her turn to collect and it was a Friday night which meant it was every man for himself down at Fionnula's Fish & Chips.

"Alright, alright, don't get your knickers in a twist." Niall jeered, earning a glare from the youngest sibling.

"What are you having again, Tea?" Liam questioned, tapping the blue biro pen against the table.

"I already told you, a cheeseburger with no tomatos and six chicken nuggets," she impatiently told him, "oh, and put down a side of garlic mayo as well." Liam nodded and scribbled down her order underneath his and Niall's.

"Right, I think that's everything." The eldest said as he handed Teagan the small scrap of paper, "be careful on your way down."

"I will." She smiled, folding up the paper and slipping it in the back pocket of her jeans.

"And hurry up, I'm starving."

Teagan rolled her eyes at Niall's command as she tugged on her denim jacket and pulled her hair out of the collar, "it'll take as long as it takes. I won't rush Fionnula, I'd actually like to live to see seventeen."

The small redhead left the house and within a couple minutes, she arrived at the chippy where she met Erin, Orla and Clare.

"Uh, c-can I please get one fish supper and one cowboy special please, Fionnula. Thank you, please." Clare was nervously stammering out her order to the frightening chippy owner as Teagan walked into the shop.

"It'll be ready when it's ready." Fionnula barked, before her beady eyes landed on Teagan, "and you, little red. What do you want?"

The other three girls turned around to see their ginger friend as Fionnula addressed her and Teagan jumped slightly at the woman's harsh voice.

"It's all on here, thanks Fionnula." She said quietly, handing the scrap of paper over to Fionnula, who roughly snatched it out of her small hand and walked off to start making their food.

"Hi, Teagan." Orla greeted with a lazy smile.

"Hiya."

"Did you ask your brother about the trust fund?" Erin asked her without so much as a "hello."
