lost decade was a time of history in japan's history where all records have been lost in the pages of time forever

this may not be in japanese

nor does it really have a deep meaning

but it is something

that i think about quite often

or more about the possibility

that this will happen to us

the possibility that no one will remember us

but then i remember the things that can never be erased

our digital footprints

i know i will at least be remembered by some for my instagram

or by finding an old yearbook

possible children

and maybe someday by you

but i guess no one is immortal

...

or maybe someone is

who knows

but i guess this went off the rails

but believe me when i say

i will remember you

i grabbed the note and read it through before putting it away. i was planning on asking simon if he wanted to hang out after school and i was super nervous.

i sat down and started drumming on simon's shoulders. he turned around and raised his eyebrow at me, "i'm listening to now i'm a baby by garrett watts what do you want?"

"first of all, i was gonna ask you a question. second, what on earth is 'now i'm a baby'?" he scoffed and handed me an earbud. the song was, interesting but i could tell that simon quite enjoyed it.

"garrett is a youtuber who is amazing by the way, and he set out to make a hit song in 24 hours, he did it in like 19 somehow and it actually hit number one on itunes when it came out. what were you gonna ask?"

"well i was gonna ask if you wanted to hang out after hell- i mean school" he laughed and rolled his eyes before gesturing for me to continue, "i'm not really sure where we'd go, i thought i'd leave that up to you?"

the teacher walked in and told us to be quiet so we had to wait to continue our conversations. sadly he talked all class so we couldn't discuss until class ended. we walked towards the door as we talked.

"i was thinking that we could go to this amazing place that sells a whole bunch of japanese drinks and food. we could get some ramune, which is literally the shit"

i laughed and we agreed to meet up after school so we could head out.

the rest of the school day was shit.

but now we were walking through the parking lot to my car, he didn't own a car so we just agreed to take my jeep. he took my phone and played now i'm a baby again and we blasted with the roof down and got so many glares from people who were walking past.

we stopped at a red light as what simon called the best part of the song started playing. it was the part where andrew was rapping but i had no idea who that was, cause this was by garrett?

a group of teens the opposite car turned off their radio and told us to turn it up. we turned it up even higher and partied out with the random people. the light turned so we started driving again and eventually made it to the place simon told me about.

we walked in and bought some ramune, which turned out to be a japanese soda with a marble in it. we also grabbed some candy and pokey sticks. as we sat and talked, i began to really think about the possibility that simon could be the one writing the notes.

but i brushed it off for the time being and just enjoyed our time together.
