Madrid was incredibly sunny, but it was also chilly

Madrid was incredibly sunny, but it was also chilly. The winter was one of the hottest yet. Tatum was successfully enjoying a break. She, however, found herself missing Bella. Not because they were 'best friends' but because she wanted someone to understand how badly she needed this.

Tatum held her bag close to her, keeping her pepper spray by her side, while she walked to a coffee shop. She was meeting the Fernsby family's guide. He would meet the Fernsby's at their hotel and follow them with everything they wanted to do.

She found the shop and tried to order a black coffee with euros. She soon felt a tap on her shoulder as a tall, dark, and handsome man smiled at her softly. He was a very gentle looking person. He had short, buzzed hair. His skin was deeply tanned and all his other features were dark. He was the opposite of Jasper.

"Senora Fernsby?" his voice was deeper than Jasper's. She didn't like it but nodded anywho. He pointed towards the sack of euros she was exchanged. "May I?"

"I understand euros. I don't understand Spanish," Tatum says stubbornly. She handed the lady the money. The guide thanked the server for her and handed Tatum her coffee. He escorted her to a small table where a bag and latte sat. They took a chair and he pulled out a notebook.

"Mrs. Fernsby, my name is Miguel Abrego. I will be your guide," he pauses, taking a sip of coffee. "I will be leading you, your son, and your husband aroun-"

"Husband?"

"I assumed since you had a son that the man was your husband, I didn't mean to assume. I'm sorry about misaddressing whoever the man is-"

"Miguel? It's alright. It's actually my dad. I'm not married," Tatum chuckles softly. Miguel's face lightens and he leans forward on his elbows.

"Single and pretty," he smirks flirtatiously. "Win-win for me. I get paid to show you around. We both get to do some sight-seeing."

Tatum got very uncomfy very fast. Was this a Spain thing? Because no one ever showed interest in her when she was in America or France. She nearly choked on her cup before mumbling some words, "I'm not single."

"Oop."

"Yeah, oop."

Luckily, Miguel didn't try anything for the rest of the day. The two sat in the coffee shop, planning what they would be doing. The planned to visit the most cultural places and some ruins. They also planned to see a parade for Avery's entertainment. Meanwhile, the two told each other their life stories.

Miguel came from a rich family because his father played futbol and his mother was an opera singer. He didn't want fame and riches so he lived with his uncle and cousin in Madrid. He had a little sister who was 11 and a older brother who was 27. Miguel himself was only 19. He worked as a part-time tour guide and a part-time nurse assistant.

Tatum kept the vampiric details out of her life and just decided to adopt Avery as her son instead of nephew to keep things uncomplicated and worrying. She didn't want any federal agents on her ass this weekend. She talked about Jasper as her boyfriend, even though they weren't technically official, and how she was raising Avery after her mom and sister left. She didn't want any sympathy looks so she left the part of 'oh yeah, my sister is dead and now I am raising her kid as my own even though I have never had sex before'.

It started to near noon when Tatum's phone rang, her dad was calling to check up on her. She quickly answered and answered all of his questions.

Are you safe? Yes.

Have you been mugged? No.

Do you still have your pepper spray? Yes.

How far are you? Half a mile.

Will you be back soon? Within the hour.

Okay, love you. Love you too.

She hung up and looked at Miguel. He was smirking at her. He cleared his throat and asked his question, "Mr. Boyfriend?"

"No, boyfriend is currently stationed somewhere secret," Tatum fibs. "That was my dad. I have to head back. You have my phone number?"

"Yes, senorita Fernsby."

"See you tomorrow morning at eight, bye Miguel."

And with that, Tatum left the coffee shop. She walked along the market, enjoying the different scenery from rainy Washington. She was almost back at the hotel before she spotted a beautiful wall. It was tall, made of brick. Someone had painted it with vibrant colors. Roses, carnations, and lilies covered the wall.

Tatum leaned forwards and traced her fingers across the wall. Although it might not have been very sanitary, it was worth the beauty.

Then she was pulled by a stranger into a dark room.

Just like every cliche kidnapping.
