“I haven’t been this close to you for so long,” he tilted his head to the side as his eyes fell down to her trembling lips, “God, I’ve missed you, Kath,” he whispered lustfully.

Without another word, he crashed into her lips hungrily. Kath tried to push him away but his grip on her wrists were strong. She had to make do with what little strength she had left by kicking his shin but it had no effect on him. Her tears screamed for her as it overflowed. She was losing her breath as he aggressively sucked it out of her with violent kisses. Just when she thought she was slowly losing herself she heard a growl as she felt the grip on her wrists loosen. She was too wobbly to see what had happened as she slid down to the floor but DJ followed suit with a thud. She shrieked in surprise as she watched another man hover over him and grab his shoulders hastily to get him up—his husband. He had just arrived and saw what was happening through the open door and had attacked DJ. His eyes were as dark as DJ’s and his mouth twisted into a snarl as he threw him against the wall. Before he could throw another slug, DJ had aimed at his jaw that sent him sprawling to the ground but quick enough to get up and hit his solar plexus with a growl when he was about to launch on him again. DJ reeled from side to side moaning and trying to keep his balance. Quen helped him by pinning him against the wall with his arm on his throat and his other hand gripping the collar of his shirt.

“YOU FUCKING BASTARD!” he spat as he pushed his arm deeper against his throat. His eyes turned into pitch black orbs. Sweat dripping from his forehead and neck; blood was trickling down by the corner of his lips; and his sanity losing inch by inch as he planned to crush his windpipe. DJ was struggling against him helplessly.

“Quen!” Kath wailed as she held his arm only to be jerked by Quen.

“Quen, stop!” she cried as she grabbed the sleeve of her husband’s jacket, “you’re going to kill him!”

Quen loosened his arm only to let him breathe but he did not let him go as he turned his dark gaze towards his wife. “How could you do this to me, Kath?”

Kath frowned and she knew Quen had misunderstood what has happened. She reached out to him but he stopped her.

“Don’t you dare come closer or I’m gonna kill him!” he gritted through his teeth as angry tears fell from his eyes. He was hurt. Damaged to be exact. He couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw his wife and DJ kissing.

“No, Quen—“ her voice thick as she feared what she saw in his eyes. Gone were those charming chocolate brown eyes which always told her he loved her. Gone were the magical fireworks that sparkled as lights shone on them whenever he smiled at her. They were all replaced with these dark deadly orbs which perfectly resembled hurt, anger, and danger. It was like he was a completely different person and she couldn’t let him be like this. Not when he was thinking that she had betrayed him. She would never. She loved him so much she was willing to let him kill DJ if he wanted to but no. As much as she despised DJ, she loved Quen so much she didn’t want him to be someone who could do such a thing.

“—it’s not what you think it is.” Her trembling hands reached for his but he flicked it away with his hand that was pinning DJ’s throat relentlessly. DJ coughed as he tried to swallow as much oxygen as possible.

“Then tell me what it is!” Quen snarled as he turned to her still gripping DJ’s collar. Kath flinched as she took a step back. He was starting to scare her.

“You fucking tell me what just happened or God forgive me what I will do to him!” He gripped both of DJ’s collars and pushed him back against the wall hard enough to make him bounce like a ball.

“He just entered and he—“ her voice trembled. She couldn’t believe what she was seeing and hearing. Quen was totally not him. Not tonight. Before she could continue, they heard DJ chuckle.

Quen darted his eyes towards him and made him face him by thrusting his jaw backward. “You’re enjoying this, are you? You son of a bitch!”

He was going to aim a fist at his face when Kath held it back with her fragile arms.

“See? She cares about me. She doesn’t love you, Quen!” DJ smirked. “—She never loved you. Sorry, dude.” He laughed mockingly as he drawled on the last word.

“Shut up, DJ!” Kath snapped.

“You fucking piece of shit!” Quen hissed as he dragged him against the wall and into the table, knocking down vases and figurines. Kath screamed but he ignored her. He threw him down the shards of broken glasses and picked him up again like a rag doll and boxed his right jaw which sent him reeling down on the floor again.

He hovered over him and sat on his abdomen. His left hand pinned him down the floor while his right hand threw hard and angry slugs on his face savagely. His fist was becoming bruised and sore and so was DJ’s face which was bleeding badly.

Kath was yelling and grabbing him away from him but she was nowhere near success.

“Stop Quen. Enough!” She continuously cried as he pounded on him like a mad animal and DJ yelped in pain with every blow.

His mind was full of anger which was subconsciously controlling his dangerous instincts at that moment. He may have hated DJ before but it died down after a while because he considered him as a friend, bestfriend—a brother. When he came back, he was honestly happy to see him. He thought that he had moved on. But what the hell just happened? DJ has ruined what little respect Quen had for him. He hated him. He loathed him. He was going to kill him.

“Quen enough, please. He’s just trying to break us. He’s trying to break you.” Kath pleaded as she courageously grabbed Quen’s fist in the air. His breathing rasp. His eyes were bleak. He stared at DJ’s bleeding and swollen face. He was coughing up blood as Quen slowly got off of him after jerking Kath's hand away from his.
