Chapter 16. The victory

Saturday and Sunday were spent with the law books. Yusuf, Leroy and Riaz were in a frenzied hurry. They were searching for the individual rights and laws and the religious rights for everyone.

“I got the law right.” Leroy shouted as he found a rule in the division. I smiled at them as I mailed to Mrs. Masters about this dilemma. I was waiting for the mail when my mobile ringed. It was Anna calling. Her dad was a Lawyer and he had powerful connections. He said that he’d help me with this. I was thankful for all their support and I knew it was from Allah.

“Zara, dad had talked with the senior judge. He said that no one can take your head cover from you. I have written statements on it and we can produce it to Mr. Russell, if he still insists, we can then go to the law and file a case. My dad will be there to support you.” Anna said with a smile in her voice. I knew she was happy to help me.

“Thank you so much Anna.” I said heartfelt. It was a pleasure to meet people like her. She was such a great friend I was happy that I had met her when I was young. When we hung up, Riaz was typing away in the laptop.

…Invoke Me, I will respond to your [invocation] (Qur’an 40:60)

I silently whispered a prayer to Allah. I knew He was listening to me. I knew He’d help me with this.

Allah asked us to call him, and He said that He would answer our every prayers. He would listen to the pleas of His followers, offer them solace and comfort. Allah was willing to listen to us; and I was going to offer my supplication to Him and Him only. Why did I need someone else, when my Creator was with me, guiding me and offering me solace?

He’d offer relief from pain. He heard you every day; He’s closer than your backbone. Come on, what’s stopping you from reaching out to Him? Did you not believe? But I believed in Him, His power. I Believed in My Lord, and that was why whenever I fell down, I stood up with more energy, like this time.

“I have the contact ID to the school President, he’s currently in Canada, but I will try and mail him.” Riaz said with a fist pump.

“Ok guys, I am going to pray.” I left and I heard them shuffling, probably to go to the Jamath.

And invoke Him in fear and aspiration (of hope). Indeed, the mercy of Allah is near to those who do good. (Qur’an 7:56)

~~~
Monday morning was sunny. I was energetic. I knew I was going to win, that was a gut feeling.
There is no moving creature on earth but its sustenance dependent on Allah. He knows the time and place of its definite abode and its temporary deposit: All is in a clear record (11:6)
So I knew Allah had watch over me and He was watching me now. As I entered the school, there were whispers, but it soon faded as Riaz joined me with Anna. I smiled at both of them. I never thought Riaz would help me with this and all. He was a stranger to me, but then he helped me, offered his support.
“Thanks guys.” I said as they two walked with me to Mr. Russell’s room. When he saw me, he was surprised and then he smirked.
“Come in Ms. Malik, want your TC?” He asked. I simply nodded and walked in; Anna and Riaz followed in. His brows rose as he saw Anna and Riaz.
“Mr. Russell, this is my permission letter to wear Hijab to the school, offered by none other than Mr. Juno Cross.” Mr. Russell’s mouth hung open in shock. His eyes were wide and his smile turned from smug one to lost and bitter.
“If that’s not enough, here’s a legal document that states she can wears whatever she wants in her head.” Riaz placed the documents and laws. That made Mr. Russell rigid.
“Oh and I have a special order from Judge Harris.” Anna waved the paper in front of his face.
“Now what’s your verdict?” I asked smugly.
“You can go Ms. Malik.”
“Verdict?” Anna stressed it and pointed to my head cover.
“You can have it,” His tone was bitter, and his eyes were callous. I didn’t mind it.
“Thank you.” I marched out and Anna followed me with Riaz.
“It’s a victory.”
Anna danced away and I stood there with Riaz.
“Jazakallah Khair.” I said sincerely. He smiled a little before he turned back and looked at me.
“Whoever sees a vice should stop it by hand, if possible, or by tongue or (he should hate it) in heart- this is the lowest act of Faith. (Muslim), so, yes, I will help you with the right against wrong.”
I was surprised at his knowledge. He was a quick learner, I thought. I walked away and I knew he was following me to the canteen, in distance.
 I prayed sincerely to Allah and entered the canteen with a big smile to be greeted with A loud chorus, by Alana, Anna and Hannah.
That day I knew one thing for sure. Whatever happened, if you stood stern in your religion, Allah would offer you His help in all the directions. Allah was the seer of all things and he would help His followers.
A Book which We have revealed unto thee, in order that thou might lead mankind out of the depths of darkness into light- by the leave of their Lord- to the Way of (him) the Exalted in power, worthy of all praise! (Qur’an 14:1)”
On the day when every soul will find itself confronted with all that it hath done of good  ad all that it hath done of good and all that it hath done of evil will long that there might be a mighty space of distance between it and that (evil). Allah biddeth you beware of Him. And Allah is full of pity for (His) bondmen. (Qur’an3:30)
And I knew I would forever keep Qur’an close to my heart. Allah was my protector, my savior and I wasn’t afraid of the coming storms in my life, because Allah is full of pity for (His) bondmen.
