Damon raised his arms up trying to shield himself from the gun that I held pointing at him. I braved myself for the kickback that the weapon will have after shooting. I took a deep breath and then placed my finger on the trigger tightly.
Before I could release the bullet, the basement door slammed open. Out of fear I quickly pressed the trigger. It was at this moment that I realized my eyes were closed, but when I opened them I noticed that I missed. My shot wasn't accurate, I barely even grazed the skin on his tattooed chest.
It felt as if time stopped. Me and Damon made eye contact, and he had the nastiest smirk on his face.
I must've finally snapped out of my trance, because I heard loud footsteps coming toward me. But I could only see red. My blood boiled knowing that I lost my only chance to put an end to Day Day's torment.
All of a sudden I noticed ten police officers run up to us. They immediately grabbed him off of the floor and handcuffed him.
I was filled with an overwhelming feeling of relief. But, this wasn't the first time that Day Day was sent to prison. He always finds a way out. And when he does he always comes looking for me.After he was escorted out, many medics observed my bruises and decided that I needed to go to the hospital. But before we left I had only one question.
"How long was I missing?" I asked the officers
The all exchanged glances and one short, youthful looking officer responded with, "you've been missing for 32 days."
I gasped loudly, his answer put me in a sudden state of shock. I couldn't believe how long I was missing. When I was being held captive it just felt like one long, endless day.
I zoned out, staring at the blank wall as I got lost in my thoughts.
"Ma'am we need you to get ready to go the hospital. Someone will be there to ask you questions. But other than that you'll be safe in the care of the medical staff. We'll be in touch with you. Your friend is here, we will send her in on our way out." An officer said calmly
It felt like the police didn't care about the fact that I was missing and abused for over a month. They acted like some petty crime was committed not kidnapping and rape. But I brushed off my annoyance and gazed at the door waiting for whoever was here to see me to enter the room.
I whined as I started to feel the pain from my injuries. I closed my eyes tightly trying to stop the tears from flowing out of my eyes. But the pain and flashbacks from the last month stopped me from keeping them closed for long.
I got up searching for my tattered clothes on the floor. The room remained dark making it hard for me to search. But, just when I found my sock someone ran up to me giving me a tight bear hug. And I knew who it was immediately.

Pain filled my heart as I saw Mei sitting helplessly on the bed. I could tell she lost a lot of weight and was beaten severely. Her face lacked any type of emotion. She looked like a totally different person. Her curls were dry and netted up, her caramel skin was a dingy gray color, and scars covered her body.Tears streamed from my eyes as I ran up to her embracing her frail body from behind.
She screamed loudly as if she was scared to be touched. That broke my heart into pieces. I knew the men in the house probably violated her in unimaginable ways. She'll probably be sensitive to touch for a while now.
