CHAPTER 24 - Captured and Trapped

(Steve Saga Origins Episode - Choosing Blue Steve's Life)

Magma's P.O.V

"What is happening?!?!" Magma ran to the iron door of his cell and looked out only to feel his blood grow cold as his body froze in place. He could see rainbow steve holding his arm as he looked to the floor while he could hear blue steve. He couldn't see him due to the wall separating them but if his hearing was correct then he could hear lava bubbling in that direction.

"Rainbow steve! Don't fight him! You can't beat him!" Magma could hear the desperation in a blue steve tone. Rainbow steve's head snapped up and glared at what magma would assume was where blue steve was before answering back

"Well If I don't then you, magma, and I will all be destroyed!" Rainbow steve turned away from the blue steve and faced the skeleton king. "I'm ready"

"Perfect..." The skeleton whispered out with his raspy voice and magma could almost sense smugness coming off of him. The skeleton king walked towards his cell with rainbow steve not far behind. Magma managed to catch rainbow steve's eyes and gave him a pleading look. Rainbow Steve looked at the floor and quickened his pace until he disappeared around the corner. Magma smacked his head against the iron door with his teeth ground creating a loud thunk. There was complete silence and the tension in the air was high.

"Who's there?" Magma bit his lip softly before speaking up.

"Hi Blue steve, it's me" Blue steve immediately responded with relief and excitement.

"Oh! Magma you're okay, me and Rainbow Steve weren't sure what happened to you after we got knocked out and...Ummm, put in a pot of boiling water..." Magma managed to stop himself from laughing at the image.

"Well okay, what has happened so far I...may have fallen asleep and can't see you. Are you in an obsidian cage as well?" Magma asked.

"Obsidian cage?..."

"Yeah you know, the purple-black stone that is very hard to break?"

"Ummm...no I'm in an iron cage above lava" Blue steve said with disbelief and magma couldn't understand why.

"Anyway, why were you and rainbow steve shouting for?" There was silence for a few moments.

"Rainbow steve...he agreed to fight the skeleton king for our freedom"

"WHAT!!!" magma cried out. Magma was done, he didn't care that they would reveal his abilities or even that rainbow steve wouldn't die. Hey remember that the great librarian told him some events will happen no matter what he does, but he will willingly lose his powers before letting his friends get hurt on his watch, ESPECIALLY WHEN RAINBOW STEVE STILL FORGAVE HIM FOR HIS CRIMES.

"Blue steve, I gonna get out and then we can go help rainbow steve"

"What-" Magma cut blue Steve off when he gave the iron door a hard hit in the center, causing a loud crack to pierce the air. Magma lowered his leg in surprise when the large crack on the door began to mend itself until the door looked like it had just been made.

"You've got to be kidding me..." magma said glaring at the door.

"What happened?!"

"I kicked the door..."

"And?"

"The damage I did repair itself" Magma heard the sound of skin slapping something before blue steve spoke again.

"I tried to tell you that most parts of the structure here are a special type made from pure energy, which means that they will regenerate unless you can destroy it faster than it can fix itself," Blue steve said with a voice filled with annoyance. Magma was confused, as far as he knew that wasn't supposed to be a thing.

"How- what?"

"It is the most basic form of prison materials and as you should know, I didn't understand why you even bothered to try to break the door." blue Steve rabble making magma feel like he was being scolded like a naughty child.

"I'm sorry? I didn't realize that was the thing" apparently that was the wrong thing to say because of blue steve's silence for the next few minutes.

"You...YOU DON'T KNOW?!? What did they teach you in the academy?" now it was blue steve's turn to sound confused.

"Academy? What is that?" magma didn't know what that was but it sounded like someplace to learn things which didn't make sense because back in his world the younger steve was talked to by the older steve and the more talented ones got taught by the elders.

"You know the big building for steves to earn the basic skills and...you have no idea what I'm talking about '' blue steve's question sounding more like a statement.

"Can we forget about that for the moment and focus on the fact that rainbow steve is currently going against a bloodthirsty skeleton!"

"If only Elder blue was here! They would be able to free us and help rainbow steve '' blue steve cried. From that point over magma could do nothing but sit in his apparently nearly unbreakable cell, he could break it open but would require to use more energy than he wanted to use to be discovered. He also knew that blue steve was gone because of his now very muffled mumbling and magma made a mental note to try and fix blue steve's obsession with Elder blue steve. Magma attempted to kick the door down 2 more times before another skeleton guard came and glared at him with a look that said "do that again and you won't be with the living anymore". After that magma stopped and was waiting for rainbow steve to come back. Magma sat on the purple-black floor feeling a growl building up in the back of his throat for many reasons. Number one reason being that he was not able to break out without revealing too much and apparently the way steves got taught was much different. An academy? He wasn't sure what that was, but apparently, that was one of the differences in this world from his.

"The great librarian did say that the world would be the same minus a few smaller differences that don't after the timeline overall," magma thought quoting what he remembered the great librarian telling him. Now that he thought about it, it seemed like a long time since he came into the new world but he knew it hadn't been longer than 3 weeks. Magma's attention went to the iron door in his cell filled with determination to break in the open. He sat up and walked over to the door, but just before he tried to hit it magma spotted a flash of something colorful out of the corner of his eye. He tilted his head to get a better angle and spotted rainbow steve. He was covered in some dirt and dust but the worst injuries that he could see were the purple bruise on his cheek and the sword cut on his right arm that he appeared to be trying to cover with his left hand that was covered in a red liquid.

"Rainbow steve!" Magma heard blue Steve shouted in relief with a mixture of worry.

"H-hey blue steve...I'm so sorry" magma felt like someone attempted to stab him in the heart at the sound of rainbow steve's broken tone.

"Wait- what?"

"I-I-I lost..." Rainbow Steve admitted sounding ashamed.

'No! Rainbow steve, you are more powerful than him!-" Blue steve got cut off by rainbow steve shouting at him.

"NO!!! I'm sorry! I know you think I'm this all-powerful being but I'm not..." rainbow Steve whispered. Blue steve attempted to plead with rainbow steve to let him get destroyed because he still had a future ahead of him, but rainbow steve had already made his decision. He reached for the levers with his uninjured hand before looking up and catching magma eyes for a spilt second.

"I'm sorry..."
