(Before we start this chapter, I want you all to know that I know that the breathing techniques are just sword skills, that the Demon Slayers don't posses any powers.)
The sun slowly rises into the sky as I stand in front of Urokodaki, holding a wooden practice katana weakly, tired from yesterday, barely any sleep and the time of day. He rushes me with his own wooden sword but I easily block it within seconds before letting the wooden sword fly away from my grasp.
"I see you still have some of your speed."
After that, he begins to talk about how you should hold a sword, about the blades, the correct positions, the correct angles and many more. Listening to him talking made me realize how important training to become a Demon Slayer truly is. Without proper training, you'll never survive the first hour in the Final Selection.
Let's ignore the fact that I did almost the exact thing I just said not to yesterday.
We then began on waking up my muscles by doing many unusual methods. First I did some acrobatics, then something past me called Parkour, it's when you use movement to get from one point to the other in a complex environment without any help as fast and most effective way possible. That, was challenging. Urokodaki kept compering my movement with my past movement, telling me my faults and what I should improve on.
Next I did Free Running. It's somewhat similar to Parkour but you interact with various objects and environments while including spinning and flipping. Finally, I just practiced my throwing, for some reason he has yet to tell me. With Urokodaki's help, I've been improving my movement skills for days.
"This will be the hardest lesson. Dodging, moving away from your opponent's attacks to not get hit and traversing to your opponent."
I had to run up and down the whole mountain nearby filled with many traps the old man himself set up multiple times before nightfall. Apparently, Tanjiro had to do this too but his one would look like heaven the old man compared, though he never lets me do it at night, all my training have been during the day.
"I have no more to teach or show you."
Huh?!
"All I taught you was the stem, the root, the seed of your abilities."
What?! Do I have to make some weird pact to continue?
"The last thing I will say is this, meditation is important, especially during the night."
Cryptic, old, red goblin masked man...
He proceeds to leave the training grounds and into the house, meeting up with Tanjiro and a hiding Nezuko. Soon, day turned to night, as I sit on a white material block, meditating, trying to unlock or figure something out inside of me. Like trying to unlock a lock with the wrong key yet knowing the correct key is right in front of you.
I never knew my training would be so cryptic.
Okay (Y/n), clear the head, become one with the Lunar Moon. Meditate.
Please, Lunar Moon, help me figure out my technique or else i'll fail to slay Protheus.
I open my eyes again only to see the same environment. I huff out in annoyance before getting up and stretching. I then sit back down on the white block, legs together as I look down at the bowl of white paste in front of me. Where did that come from?
* * *
I look at the glass in front of me, seeing my own naked reflection as I hold the bowl of moon dust in my right hand. I proceed to put my left middle and index finger into the bowl, scooping out some of the paste before putting it on my body.
