one last time

izuku could hear the laughs echo through his house. it was inko midoryia's forty-fifth birthday.he stepped out of his now empty room. all that it held was a bed, his guitar case, and his luggage. he looked to his left and saw his mother smiling and laughing with a few of the older folk. a soft grin found its way to his face. his mother looked so happy and at peace with everything, though he knew within hours she'd be crying.
three knocks shook izuku from thought. he turns to answer the door. most likely more party guests.
he was met with two blondes arguing and a brunette attempting to pull them apart.
izuku laughed. he was going to miss this.
mitsuki turned and saw the greenette and threw him into a hug, squeezing the air out of him.
"It's been so long since I've seen you Izuku! how have you been? you've gotten so bulky," she said feeling up his bicep.
his hand flew up to his neck, rubbing it while a slight blush of embarrassment cycled through his cheeks.
"I've been good ms. bakugou. and never mind that, how have you been? oh and please come in," he said while shutting the door behind them. he politely took the jacket off of mitsuki's shoulders and hung it in the closet, left of the door.
"such a gentleman, wish my katsuki was like that," she slapped the back of his head. he just scoffs and walks past them both.
"don't worry about him. he was sulking the whole way here. and what did I say about calling me that? it makes me feel old. its mitsuki," she laughed as he led her and masaru further in.
inko made eye contact with mitsuki and excused herself from the conversation and made her way toward the three.
"mitsuki! I'm so glad you made it," she exclaimed while hugging her.
"wouldn't miss it for the world."
"ill leave you to it," izuku said excusing himself. he wanted to mingle for a bit.
knowing that bakugou was here made izuku a little nervous. their last conversation was a bit awkward.
he started talking to a few of his mother's friends, refilling wine glasses, and escaping to the kitchen himself.
no one was in there and the mountain of dishes wasn't going to clean themselves. filling up a glass of red wine he started the task at hand.
as he tackled the dishes, he felt eyes shooting bullets into his back. he felt it'd be the manly thing to just keep doing the dishes. though the stare felt so intense that he turned his head slightly to the side to see the door leading to the party swinging back and forth.
"weird," he sighed as he turned back to the dishes.
when he finished, he looked up at the time. eight o'clock already? he grabbed the cake from the cabinet, pushing two numbered candles and four sparklers into the cake.
he then went and whispered to mitsuki to have everyone go out to the patio.
he held the cake in one hand and the plates in the other. the diner job he had come in handy in these situations.
he bumped the door open with his hip and started singing happy birthday to his mother. his voice sang out so soft and delicately into the night air.
others soon joined and inko sat looking at her son. at this moment in her life, she realized that she had much to be thankful for, but her main concern was her son. he was her baby and he was all grown up.
she started to tear up a bit.
he set the cake in front of his mother and slid behind her, patting circles into her back.
she had one wish and that was that izuku would be happy with his choices.
she blew the candles out and hugged izuku tightly.
fireworks shot off into the sky. colors and bright lights danced in the sky.
it was breathtaking. izuku smiled brightly at the sky. the reflection of the rockets looked even better in his green pupils.a certain blonde had his eyes locked on izuku's. he was beautiful. how he stood silently taking in the dance of lights in the sky. the smile that tugged on izuku's lips. the way his fluffy hair was tossed around by the wind.
he was awestruck.izuku turned to see bakugou looking straight at him. he was captivated by katsuki's gaze.
bakugou felt like everything slowed down, the sound around then became quiet. all they could hear were their heartbeats.
izuku knew he couldn't do this again.
not this time. izuku head shot to the right and the sound came back in waves.he looked down at the table. the feeling was too surreal. katsuki had this effect on him. ever since they were kids. katsuki was always what he looked at.
even as kids they were like this. always looking at each other. izuku thought that they would even get married when they were little. when they played games izuku was always the damsel in distress while katsuki was the one who saved the day.
playing house deku was always the one who took care of the house and katsuki was the one who went to work. he'd give izuku a kiss on the cheek entering their 'house', then izuku would ask how work was.
he was always the one to sweep deku off his feet, though, the later years were different. it was only when he needed deku as a side piece.
"izuku honey, are you okay?" inko asked while holding a slice of cake toward izuku.
